Best place to eat that most iconic of Japanese regional dishes, real Hiroshima Okonomiyaki, in the Kanto area I've found. I lived in Hiroshima for many years, and this is where I go to satisfy my hankering for a taste of my (second) home. The basement place is unpretentious, the two staff (chef & server/cashier) always friendly and efficient, and prices very reasonable. I have standard soba/niku/tama (soba noodles/pork belly/egg) with cheese (chizu) and spring onion (negi) topping, adding a sprinkling of Shijimi (chilli powder) - no jalapeños here... and of course some extra mayo and oki sauce. Popular with the local [Tokyo Tech] student crowd (who often order double noodles which, as often in Japan, doesn't cost extra), though the standard serving is already a very filling size.

The Hiroshima okonomiyaki was delicious but.. the owner was very unfriendly despite my efforts. Perhaps she dislikes foreigners. First time I’ve had this kind of cold service in this area.

I visited at 11:30 during weekend lunch hours. Since it's Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, there are no griddles at each table; the staff make it at the counter and bring it over. Inside there is a counter, 2 tables, and around 6 tatami seats, and it's spacious and clean. The brisk older lady's service gives it the feel of a neighborhood okonomiyaki shop. At lunch when we visited, the menu was straightforward: Niku Tama Soba only. Doubling the noodles is free, which is good value, and all the men were choosing double. The Hiroshima-yaki was piping hot, with crispy soba, and incredibly delicious! Sauce and mayonnaise are on the table, so you can add as much sauce as you like. The opening hours are a mystery since there was no information, and a sign said small children aren't allowed, so please keep that in mind.

Incredibly delicious! They also ensure distance between customers, so you can dine with peace of mind even during the COVID pandemic. The lively, brisk lady brightens up the restaurant's atmosphere. There seem to be lots of 東工大 students too
