Visited for dinner on Friday, June 21, 2024. *For some reason uploading photos gives an error and I can't upload them. Google Maps has way too many bugs like this lately. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor on the left as you go along the shopping street on the north side of Ōokayama. A cozy izakaya with just one 4-person table and a counter, run by an owner from Kyoto. You can enjoy carefully selected wine, sake, and brown sugar shochu. Skewers are the main focus, but you can also enjoy an exquisite potato salad, homemade lightly pickled vegetables, meat sashimi, and more. There aren't many kinds of alcohol, but they're carefully selected, so they pair very well with the food and you can get pleasantly tipsy. Among them is even the ultra-rare Chichibu whisky, Ichiro's Malt — a place you should visit at least once. The food, like wagyu tsukune skewers, senmai, and beef offal stew, is very reasonably priced, and you can enjoy flavors that exceed the price. Among the wagyu skewers, the harami skewer is recommended — a must-eat dish. The clientele are all people of substance, and sometimes you can even enjoy conversations between customers. Personally, it's one of the places I want to patronize because you can drink the Kikaijima brown sugar shochu “Asahi.” Highly recommended.
View on GoogleThis restaurant was opened by someone from the famous Gotanda restaurant “日南” who went independent. A precious place where you can eat the delicious “beef harami skewers” honed at “日南” right in Ōokayama. Not just the “beef harami skewers” — the “stew” was also of quite a high level.
View on GoogleI order the beef offal stew and beef harami skewers every time. I'm always torn over whether to finish with curry or garlic rice.
View on GoogleEasy to walk into even as a woman on her own, and the friendly owner and part-time staff serve you pleasantly. The signature harami skewers of course, but everything you eat is truly delicious, and the motsuni is simply exquisite!
View on GoogleWith Kyoto vegetables and carefully sourced meat, every item on the menu is delicious, but you absolutely must eat the harami skewers. The harami sashimi I had here for the first time was way too good. A place I want to go to once a month.
