This is the parking lot at the Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji Traffic Safety Prayer Hall, and it can also be used for visiting Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji. It's a pretty large lot; I arrived a little after 10 on a Saturday and there were quite a lot of open spaces. It seems most people come by train after all. It seems to normally be open for free. It may be paid during the first three days of the New Year, at year-end, and when there are big festivals. Please check the website. It takes about 10 minutes on foot to Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji, but since it's right after you exit the Daishi Interchange on the Shuto Expressway Kanagawa Route 1 Yokohane Line, I think it's easy to find for those coming by car. This prayer hall is where you can receive prayers related to cars. Other prayers are handled at Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji.
View on GoogleAn Indian-style building on a detached site belonging to Kawasaki Daishi; there's a reception counter inside for goshuin and prayers too. The building feels like a slightly bigger version of the Yakushi-do. You'll find it if you leave Kawasaki Daishi's Nakamise and head toward the area near the Toyoko's Higashimon Station, and there are signboards along the way.
View on GoogleGoing off old memories, I ended up going to Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji. Turns out the Automobile Traffic Safety Prayer Hall is now in a slightly separate location. It's next to the building with Shimachu, OK, and so on. There's a lunch break, but prayers are held every 30 minutes. 5000 yen per car. It was a weekday in autumn, so there were only about 2 groups. Further inside there's a rest room, vending machines, and restrooms.
View on GoogleI go every time I get a new car. Thanks to that, I've never had an accident. When coming from the east, it seems best to turn right just before the home center, loop around, and then turn left at the same intersection. The prayer fee was 5000 yen. (2021.7)
View on GoogleA T-shaped(?) building standing to the right of the main gate entrance to the Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji Traffic Safety Prayer Hall. I don't normally use it, but around here, during the first three days of the New Year, huge crowds come to this area for their first visit of the year to O-Daishi-sama, so the roads around the temple grounds are closed to general vehicles. So local residents are issued passes by the Kanagawa Prefectural Police, and every year police officers come to the 2nd floor of this building to process and issue them on the spot. They do it every year during the daytime on weekends in December.
