Soba noodle was normally tasty. Small fish tempura was a bit fishy. Hope they have a la carte menu during lunch time also.

Visited early Saturday afternoon. When I entered, I thought it might be full, but the restaurant was surprisingly spacious and I was seated right away. I ordered a large portion of soba from the lunch menu. It was described as salad-style, but I could not picture it. One bite made it clear. Unfortunately, the mayonnaise flavor was so strong that I could not taste the soba or dipping sauce. Next time I would like to try mori soba. It looks good for evenings too. I would like to return.

I visited at lunchtime, and it was almost full. There were plenty of lunch options, making it hard to choose, but I ordered their original soba with red pickled ginger and squid kakiage, served in hot broth. I thought it would just be soba, but it came with a side of rice resembling okowa, which was delicious too. Even the regular portion of soba is generous, and some women might find it a little too much. There are other lunch dishes I want to try, so I will visit again.

I visited 大森柏庵, which I had passed many times during my years living nearby but had never entered. I came because Gemini recommended it when I asked about a healthy lunch nearby. The exterior has the imposing appearance of a traditional Japanese house, and there are fish in a pond before you enter, giving it the unmistakable feel of an upscale restaurant. I ordered the Japanese lunch set (yellowtail sashimi + yellowtail and daikon + grilled yellowtail), 1200円. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The exterior had raised my expectations for the food, but the grilled fish was dry, and the yellowtail and daikon had hardly any flesh and lots of bones, making it difficult to eat. Many people around me ordered soba, so perhaps I should have chosen soba too.
