It's a cool little museum in the outskirts of Ōme. However, it is closing permanently after March 20. The city and Yoshikawa estate have found the costs to maintain it as a city museum slightly high. If you can get out to see it, and literary museums are your thing; its well worth it's ¥500 entrance fee.

Amazingly well preserved and super friendly staff, especially Izumi san. The garden is just as impressive with some trees hundreds of years old including a beautiful momiji. I can't wait to see it in the fall.

The residence where Eiji Yoshikawa lived for a time He himself wasn't born and raised here but there are descendants who were born and raised here The garden where tea gatherings were held The Western-style and Japanese-style rooms where he did his writing Modern rooms blending Japanese and Western styles Pillars made from huge trees, and so on It's a splendid house, and the spaces from that era still remain There are volunteer guides so it might be nice to walk around while getting a guided tour Back in the day, when it came to historical novels I remember you'd just be handed Eiji Yoshikawa's Three Kingdoms first Looking at the archive, I see he also made manga-like works for children I still remember his writing being easy to read, without needlessly difficult words so finding out he also wrote works for children made total sense
