One of Tokyo's hidden gems⛰️ A few people here and there. When you say hello they always greet you back, which makes me happy😂 Not super amazing or anything, but the scenery is soothing, and it's a fun few-kilometer course for trail beginners🔰👍
View on GoogleA rest area on the hiking course. I chose the one-hour course. Even the beginner one is pretty tough. The last climb is a formidable foe. There's a designated spot along the way where you can see Mt. Fuji, but you basically can't see it this time of year. It's hazy with smog. Probably autumn to winter, when the air is clear.
View on GoogleIt's a little above the hiking course. Actually, the view from the bench a little further down is overwhelmingly better. From there you can see Shinjuku, and on clear days even the Skytree. You can also see all of Ome city, and the view is really great. Without climbing up to Yaguradai, you can reach the lower bench via a bypass trail from the Ikusabata direction. There's also an escape route from there leading to Miyanohira Station.
View on GoogleThe onigiri I ate on the mountain was super delicious😋 What's that white thing visible between the towers? I'm curious😩 If anyone knows, please tell me🙏
View on GoogleAn observation deck that doubles as a rest area, on a small hill with a pretty decent view. It's on the Ome Hills hiking course, and although there are some ups and downs, I think you can get here easily from the Ome Station side. The gazebo has wooden benches on both sides that seat 3~4 people. The north side is wooded with no view, but on the south side you can look out over the town below to famous Okutama peaks such as Mt. Otake and Mt. Mitake. This time I came via Mt. Raiden, but the northern half of the hiking course has lots of stairs with steep ups and downs, and many spots with rugged tree roots and rocks underfoot, so I don't recommend sneaker-type shoes. From Miyanohira Station the course time is 40 minutes. Note that many trails have been abandoned, so don't take shortcuts other than the signposted ones.
