Just a 2-minute walk from Mitake Station, Tamagawaya is the perfect pit stop before heading up to Mitake Shrine. They serve fresh, handmade buckwheat soba, and I tried the Tenzarusoba—soba noodles with tempura. The experience is part of the fun: mix the green onions and wasabi into the dipping sauce, and when you’re done, pour the hot soba water in for a warm, nutrient-rich finish. Cozy, friendly, and with an English menu.

Visited this small soba place in weekday, few retaurants were open including this shop. There was few queues before us, we waited for 30 minutes, you can enqueue using the tablet at the entrance. You can ask for english menu but don't expect fluent english communication. We ordered the zaru soba and tempura set, it was so great, worth the wait. Also ordered assorted tempura for sharing. It completed our day trip to Mitake gorge.

A great little soba shop near the river. Limited seating inside so be prepared to wait for lunch (especially on the weekend). I opted for the tempura soba and it did not disappoint. The noodles were soft and chewy, the dipping sauce delicious, and the tempura crunchy. Staff was super friendly and service fast. Normal prices. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Old thatch house ( modern and very updated inside)as soba restaurant has been on our list to visit for long time. This place is excellent in services and food quality. Menu is in japan and English available. We were enjoying our lunches and very satisfied.

The old house in the mountainous region of Oku-tama makes a great attraction for hikers and tourists who would want to dope off from the busy environment of Tokyo. They pride themselves for non usage of MSGs, but not much more to note about the soba and tempura which were very ordinary quality.
