The museum is gone. I don't know if it will be in the future. It's a vacant lot today
View on GoogleI strolled around the shopping streets near 🚉Ome Station to see the "Ome Akatsuka Fujio Kaikan," which closes for good today. Also, since the "Showa Retro Shohin Hakubutsukan" and the "Showa Gentokan" will be temporarily closed starting tomorrow, Saturday, March 28, I visited those too. ~March 27, 2020~ #ShowaRetro #AkatsukaFujio #Manga #Tokyo
View on GoogleOme Akatsuka Fujio Cinematic Road: a town where Showa-retro charm and "cats" coexist. JR Ome Station, Old Ome Kaido. An artsy town with lots of classic movie posters and old objects on display throughout the streets, it's quietly popular as a sightseeing spot where you can enjoy a "Showa retro" townscape. Head out to the Old Ome Kaido with Ome Station behind you and you'll find many old-fashioned shops; it feels like you've slipped back in time to the Showa era. #青梅駅#青海駅#青梅赤塚不二夫シマネチックロード If you like, I've made a video of this spot on YouTube ⇒ 秋田馬蓮 ⇒ By Prefecture, so I'd be happy if you'd stop by and check it out.
View on GoogleApparently there used to be an Akatsuka Fujio memorial museum here, but unfortunately it's closed now. At the Showa Natsukashi Kinenkan there are old movie billboards like Breakfast at Tiffany's, plus Akatsuka Fujio characters. The streets definitely have a retro feel, and the shopping street in front of the station has a cozy, heartwarming vibe too.
View on GoogleThey play up the Showa-retro vibe almost a little too much.
