Walking around Ome, my friends and I happened upon this tiny ethnic restaurant: a Papua New Guinea-themed eatery where the food is so-so (at least that day: we had a Nepali-inspired lunch with two side dishes of sautéd vegetable and spicy chicken curry(?), pickles and some sort of lentil soup and rice that can be refilled), the atmosphere is rustic and cozy (with some Polynesian music playing) and the servers/owners are nice (even wearing a tribal headress to give the visitors that certain Oceanic vibe.) An interesting concept; also selling an assorment of trinkets that might tickle one's fancy to remember the place.
View on GoogleCosy, interesting interior. Friendly shop staff. Delicious food and coffee. The restaurant is tiny, so it's best to come by yourself or in a group of two. The interior is really unique, and the staff are obviously passionate about the Papua New Guinean culture. During our visit, they offered drinks and one food option. I couldn't have the curry on the menu, but they were really nice about making a special vegan meal for me! It was filling and yummy. Thank you! And the coffee suited my tastes perfectly, I will have to come back and try the other coffees!
View on GoogleThey are not serving food now. The owner just serves coffee and some cake only. The beans are from Papua New Guinea and it is the same variety as Blue Mountain. Coffee is very clean. When we visited we were the only customers and had a very interesting chat. This place is worth a visit and see the owner.
View on GoogleA cafe run by a very impactful owner, but the soba served there is exquisite, soba needs to be reserved, it is said that the owner's love for soba grew, and he started serving soba. Walnut soup is delicious♡ The owner Apo-san seems to have been named Apo which means My heart in Papua New Guinean language when he lived in Papua New Guinea. I was taught in detail about soba and Papua New Guinean cuisine. I was happy to respond to the photo shoot of the handmade Mudman mask in the shop, and I felt like I went to an amusement park. The shop has counter seats, a capacity of three four-person seats, coffee brewed with coffee beans obtained from Papua New Guinea is a must-order, located on the temple grounds and there is a parking lot
View on GoogleIn a space full of exotic atmosphere, I enjoyed ethnic cuisine, quiet time, and chatting. The quality of the Goshuin is also amazing, so it's worth a look. The master has an appearance that tends to make ordinary people flinch at first sight, but he is a very gentle and easy-to-talk-to person. When his wife is working together, I think even a woman alone can come to the store. Currently, the store has a maximum of about 7 people (because the atelier is expanding), so if you are coming in a large group, it is recommended to make a reservation.
