We decided to go the opposite way of downtown Tokyo for some curry udon. This place had some good reviews and a short line to go in for lunch. There was a short wait and we were able to get seats for our group. This place sits about 30 people and seemed full while we there for lunch. Once inside, you'll enjoy the simple wooden decor and their pictures of celebrities and TV shows that have visited throughout the years. The shop is run by a grandma and grandpa so don't expect fast service, but they are very kind check in on you throughout your meal. For the food, we got what we wanted. The curry udon had generous portions of meat, curry and udon. The udon was thick and had a nice combination of being chewy and softness as you eat. I had the large deluxe curry set and I barely finished it. Can't imagine how big the extra large would have been. I barely had to eat dinner that night. Overall, we enjoyed coming here and the food was delicious. It was cash only so don't forget to have your yen. I recommend coming to try at least once. We'll definitely go back again.

Famous for its Curry Udon. I don't know how to describe this. It is like a lava of curry sauce errupting from the mountain of Udon. Near impossible to eat keeping your fingers and tray clean! The taste is good and different from any other curry Udon. Customers were mix of regulars and tourists and full during lunch time.

2025/10/24 TOKYO-X Curry Don Udon Large (1800 yen). Diwali festival held in an old folk house. [Store Information] Handmade udon shop founded in 1955 (Showa 30). Popular for its Curry Nanban with an overflowing visual using the high-end pork brand "TOKYO X". [This Order] Late October 2025. I had bookmarked this shop as a "place I want to visit someday" for a long time, and since the direction of my YouTube channel started looking up, I decided to take the plunge and visit. I chose Curry Don Udon from the menu: Curry Nanban (basic curry udon), Mori Curry Nanban (dipping udon ver), Curry Don Udon (curry udon with rice), Tsukimi Curry Nanban (curry udon with fried egg), DX Curry Nanban (curry udon with fried egg & rice). Sizes are regular, large, and special. Since I'm going to one more place after this, I chose large. [Visual] A wonderful visual that is about to overflow. The yellow curry also looks delicious and friendly to the tongue. Let's eat before it spills. [Curry] They say dashi is added to the curry in advance, so there is no soup under the curry. Everything is curry soup. Because of that manufacturing method, the finish is very thick. When I eat it, there is a slightly strong saltiness created by the synergy of dashi x curry. From there, surprisingly, from the Japanese-style curry look, a soft and refreshing spice scent wafts up. Probably the flavor of cardamom or coriander seeds. You can also feel a rich flavor like cheese. This seems to be the reason why it is so thick. [Ingredients] The ingredients are red ginger, green onion as a condiment, cooked green onion, and TOKYO X pork belly. The thickness is about the same as shabu-shabu meat. Maybe because of the grade, there is no "wow" impression of super high-end pork, but the refreshing sweet fat is delicious. The cooked green onion is inserted across the bowl, I wondered why? It seems to be the boundary between rice and udon. It's not divided into two sideways, but divided into two vertically. Interesting. [Noodles & Rice] The udon is Musashino udon. It's so thick that you can only lift a few strands with chopsticks, a type of Musashino udon that has chewiness and strength. From the hardness that makes the jaw tired at the beginning, it gradually changes to a soft texture. The rice on the other side is about a bowl's worth. Quite dense. When added up, the volume is a little more than Jiro-style ramen. It has a heaviness of about 350-400g as they say in Jiro. [Impression] Eye-catching visual, generous size even for regular, format where you can enjoy two types in one bowl, surprising spice feeling in dashi curry, this is an interesting content that is one or two levels different from simple Musashino udon curry udon. Next time I want to focus only on this shop and try the special DX.
