A small town-run art museum built by partially relocating a roughly 150-year-old Okutama farmhouse. We continuously hold special exhibitions, mainly featuring works by artists connected to the Tama area. About 20 minutes on foot from either Mitake Station or Kawai Station on the JR Ome Line. Free parking available.

It's a really small museum, but the way the works are displayed is wonderful, and I was able to quietly enjoy the world of ink painting.

A cozy little museum run by Okutama Town. When I visited, there was an exhibition of works by members of the Okutama Town federation of cultural organizations, and it was free. For works by famous artists there's a fee, but it's just ¥300, super cheap, to the point that I worry whether they can keep the museum going. Because the wooden house fits so well with the forest. Right next door is Riverside Cafe awa, where you can eat while looking at the clear stream of the Tama River.

I came to see works by Nakahara Mihoko-san. Lots of works using stones were on display. Stepping outside the museum, the murmur of the river flowing past the balcony makes for a pleasant atmosphere!

After eating at Cafe awa next door, I stopped by to rest too. Totally unlike awa, there wasn't a single person here, so I could really relax. awa has terrace seating too, but sometimes others are already there. In that case, you can also view the mountain stream from here, though there are no seats.

A small, quiet art museum. The maple leaves around it had turned bright red and were very beautiful. Works by Ishiyama Kyusuke-san happened to be on display. He was there in person and explained various works to us. The works were wonderful, but I really liked his personality. We had a fun chat, including the story of how his house was hit by an avalanche but he miraculously survived. If I get the chance, I'd like to visit Midoriyama Kosha.
