A wonderful museum near the Okutama Dam with a great view! It’s an excellent spot for sightseeing and even offers a virtual hiking experience using the museum’s facilities. You can also learn about the region and its culture in an engaging way. The cafeteria serves delicious food at reasonable prices. I had the curry udon, it was flavorful, the broth rich, and the noodles perfectly chewy. If you sit by the window, you can enjoy breathtaking scenery while eating. Best of all, admission to the museum is free! Highly recommended as a stop if you’re planning to go hiking or simply strolling around the Okutama Dam. They also have omiyage store, good for buying souvenirs or snacks.
View on GoogleNice to visit in Autumn. Beautiful red orenge and green leaves. Don't forget to try the products form Wasabi from the souvenir shop.
View on GoogleThe museum and building was nice to visit and have lunch. The view from the cafe was beautiful. We took a nice stroll across the dam also. Good spot for a family outing and it was free.
View on GoogleFree and great to visit when you need a reason to get out the house. Walking the dam was great for the dog. Will do it again since I live nearby.
View on GoogleExcellent place for nature lovers. You can enjoy trailing through the small mountains, you can see the Okutama dam that is controlling water flow to the river. Okutama lake itself is very beautiful. You can do rafting to the near Mitsuke station. But need booking in advance. There are not much convenient store and restaurant. So it's better to carry some food.
