Credit card payments are often refused. I can't understand what they're saying, but apparently the payment terminal can't connect or they don't know how to use it. They also said the owner was late, so they couldn't cook. Sometimes the rice is so soft it's unpleasant, and the water is lukewarm. As a Chinese restaurant, I'd like them to stock Tsingtao beer, but they only have Premium Malt's. It's also dark inside. But it's a rare place where you can eat honeycomb tripe, so I reluctantly go.

Neighborhood Chinese restaurant 美食坊 by Tanashi's south exit. It was open for lunch, so I gave it a try. Lunch includes daily specials and regular set menus. The staff seem to be Chinese. There are counter seats, a raised seating area with recessed legroom, and tables. ◆Stir-fried eggplant and cabbage set meal (800円 including tax) The food leaves a fairly strong umami-seasoning aftertaste. The almond pudding is rich and delicious. The Coca-Cola glasses are nostalgic.

The evening drinks set, with 2 snacks and 1 drink for 1200円, is excellent value. There's a wide selection of snacks, the dishes are properly prepared and delicious, and the portions are generous. The set is so satisfying it makes you want to stay and drink more. Perhaps the 麻婆豆腐 uses beef, because it has strong umami, a lovely Sichuan pepper aroma, and was very much to my taste. The gizzard and scallion salad is another favorite: reasonably priced, with seasoning that really encourages drinking. Next time I'll bring my drinking friends.

１１月 ２０２４ I'm grateful they serve lunch on Saturdays and Sundays too. The other day I went to 日高屋 in Kabukicho for the first time in about 4 years and was shocked at how bad it was, so I came here to get rid of the taste. The mixed shrimp set had ６ shrimp, which was acceptable. I also often go to 菜香菜 in Shinjuku, but they only include ４ shrimp, so I don't order shrimp dishes there. I prefer this place to 墨花居, which is refined, expensive, and small-portioned. ８月 ２０２４ The portions really have shrunk. ３月 ２０２４ Today the rice was mushy and not good. １０月 ２０２３ Visited after about １ year. Ordered something called the char siu and egg set. It was literally what the name said, but different from what I'd imagined. The portions may have shrunk compared with before, too. Visited 11月 2022 Visited after ５ months. If I'm eating Chinese food in Tanashi, this is the place. If I'm with my mother, who eats little, perhaps 墨花居? (Though I haven't been for about 5 years.) ６月 ２０２２, visited after a long absence. Somehow different from the yurinchi I'd imagined, but the chicken breast was cooked tender and juicy. I found it clearly better than Chinese chain restaurants. ↓Previously Generous portions and rice refills available. The rice is clearly better than family-restaurant level.
