Good to place to watch the sea and sunrise. It was unfortunately hazy this morning. Nearby Niijima island looks so close.
View on GoogleAn observation deck with Miyakejima in front of you, and if the air is clear you can see Mikurajima too. This observation deck has a history of being built and maintained by volunteers, and there seems to be a very interesting backstory to that as well
View on GoogleAn observation deck on the eastern side of Shikinejima. Parking is around the observation deck entrance, for a few cars. It's on high ground; you can see Niijima on the left, Miyakejima around the center, and Kozushima on the right. On Niijima, you can see the edge of the Shiromama Cliffs. The sea is blue and beautiful.
View on GoogleI went around 8pm in August. You can see a sky full of stars❕Amazing❕Beautiful❕It was the best view of my life. The road to the observation deck is super dark and scary, but please work up the courage and go!!
View on Google◆View ・You get a big, sweeping view of Niijima and the Pacific Ocean ・It's great! ◆Marune = まるね ・You can see the spot called Marune, where locals are said to swim, directly below ・You access it by walking through the woods, and you still have to walk a bit after reaching the shore, so I'd say access is somewhat difficult. But the underwater scenery is amazing. ・It's surrounded by rocks, so it's a swimming spot that's less affected by wind and waves ・It can be dangerous depending on the weather and time of day, so be sure to talk with locals before swimming
