I went for lunch on a weekday. The food was delicious!
View on GoogleThe horse sashimi was cold as it was freshly sliced from frozen. I ordered blue sea cucumber ponzu, sashimi, kappa maki, chicken wings, ginkgo nuts, and a half bottle of wine. According to my companion, there wasn't much in the display case. The owner was busy chatting with regulars, so we couldn't really talk. We decided to stop ordering and go to a nearby shop instead. The chicken wings and ginkgo nuts were delicious. It was over 18,000 yen for two people. We also decided against buying souvenirs.
View on GoogleThis time, I visited Kouzushi in Shimo-Akatsuka for my sister's slightly belated birthday party. I was worried about the price, variety, and atmosphere since it was my first time, but it was a great place that completely dispelled those worries. Since it was the start of Golden Week, the restaurant was almost full, so I was glad I made a reservation. As it was my first time and there were two of us, I was worried about being seated at the counter, but I was happy to be guided to the tatami seating I had hoped for. The menu has plenty of local sake, and there are dozens of Japanese and Western appetizers besides sushi, so indecisive people might struggle to choose. The prices are reasonable, so it's wallet-friendly, and even though it was a birthday party without a cake, it was a satisfying night. They don't take online reservations, so it's hard to book. It's not the kind of popular place with long lines, but since it's family-run, maybe the owner is busy at the counter and only his wife is handling the floor, so they can't answer the phone? Or maybe they ignore it? I don't know, but the phone is hard to get through to. If you call around 7 PM, their son or a part-timer might pick up, so it's best to aim for that time. Please note that they close at 9 PM.
View on GoogleI had the lunch nigiri for 1,200 yen (tax excluded)! Both the topping and the rice were neatly formed. To put it positively, it's compact and easy to eat! But to put it negatively, it's small and the toppings are thinly sliced, leaving me unsatisfied! Since the town sushi places around Shimo-Akatsuka usually have a strong impression of being cheap and voluminous, even though it comes with miso soup, salad, and coffee, it feels a bit expensive.
View on GoogleI visited for the first time on Father's Day. The raised tatami area had a sunken floor, but there are also table seats for those with bad legs, so it's not a problem. It seemed like they had many delivery orders, but I never felt like I was made to wait for our food, and they made a good impression by explaining beforehand that some items were sold out. They also have a policy of not using frozen tuna. The attentiveness and care of the female staff on the floor were also good. The service, food, and serving time were all wonderful. I would like to visit again.
