I have a weakness for anything with Japanese plum, so Seimen Tsunefuji is a bright spot in the once busy alley near Oizumigakuen station. The regular dipping sauce is light yet flavorsome while the spicy one is refreshingly spicy. The shape and size of the bowl that holds these sauces is a spill hazard. I wish they change it to one with a wider base. The spacing between the 10 counter stools allows ample elbow room. You won’t feel squeezed as you position your arms to slurp away your noodles. On the wide countertop, you’ll find various condiments. Use those to play around with your tsukemen’s texture and taste, especially if you order the largest noodle serving size. P.S. Don’t forget to bring cash. Their ticket machine accepts bills and coins only.
View on GoogleI order the ume katsuo tsukemen every time The ume katsuo tsukemen has plum flavor on the noodles, so eating just the noodles is refreshing The soup is piping hot and rich too; dipping the noodles in it, it's gone in no time There are lots of condiments, and among them the shiitake vinegar does a great job. I often finish drinking the soup by the time I'm done with the noodles, but finishing with the wari soup is nice too! I tasted the spicy one, and the deep umami is great! Plus there's a numbing sensation afterward
View on GoogleI wandered in while passing by, so I didn't know the shop's rules and fumbled a bit. The noodles are, as written, "chewy" thick noodles, but not too firm, with just the right springiness — like 'noodles meant to be eaten with a dipping sauce full of ingredients.' They weren't the kind you just slurp down without chewing. I like noodles with a solid flavor, and the noodles here were very much to my taste. The meat flavor was too strong, so the plum flavor was a bit hard to make out, I think. Unfortunately I was a little under the weather myself, so my sense of taste wasn't at its best. I'd like to go again.
View on Google【Order】 Ume katsuo tsukemen (regular), soft-boiled seasoned egg 【Impressions】 First visit. This shop opened in May 2023. I learned about it through Dai Tsukemen Haku. Found it behind the main street, a 2-minute walk from Oizumigakuen Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line! Weekday just before 7 PM, went in without waiting. Slippery, medium-thick straight noodles topped with plum sauce, dipped into a rich, slightly oily seafood × animal-based soup with green onions and nori floating in it. The rich soup and refreshing plum sauce go together so well. I occasionally see shops serving plum tsukemen, but this one is outstandingly delicious. Never gets boring to the very end! There's a wide variety of tabletop condiments too, so I enjoyed customizing it myself. Thank you for the meal!
View on GoogleLocated a few minutes from the north exit of Oizumigakuen Station. There's often a wait at lunchtime. The tsukemen, ume katsuo tsukemen, and chuka soba are all delicious. The shredded meat is tasty, so I recommend it. Personally, I prefer the chuka soba.
