Visited just after 12 on Sunday. There was 1 party in line. Since it’s underground, it’s hard to tell how busy it is, though you can see inside through a window on the stairs. The seats were about 6 tenths full, but the restaurant seemed a little overwhelmed. There’s no waiting list, so you can’t tell how many parties are waiting. We were shown to our seats after about 10 minutes. Self-service water, small plates, and so on are behind the register. Reception is poor because the restaurant is underground, but Wi-Fi information is provided. Order 鶏と7種の夏野菜のネギ塩レモンペペロンチーノ The soup arrived within a few minutes, but the pasta was served about 40 minutes after ordering. It was good that we had time to enjoy chatting that day (or videos if you’re alone).
View on GoogleThe other day I visited “洋麺屋五右衛門 中野店” near 中野 Station. Famous as a pasta restaurant incorporating Japanese touches, it has a calm, wood-toned interior. There are both counter seats and tables, with a welcoming atmosphere whether you’re alone or in a group. This time I had “カルボナーラ” (1,200円 including tax). The moment it arrived, the aroma of cheese spread out and whetted my appetite. Its distinctive feature is the large Japanese-style bowl, characteristic of 五右衛門. Even its appearance feels special. The pasta was al dente, with a memorably chewy texture. It held the rich sauce well, with the savory bacon adding an accent. The mellow egg yolk brought everything together, making it enjoyable to the last bite without getting boring. The portion was generous enough to satisfy even a man. The staff were polite, making for a pleasant meal. The location is convenient too, and I recommend it when you want to enjoy delicious pasta easily in 中野.
View on GoogleThe other day I had carbonara at 五右衛門 in 中野. I had strongly associated 洋麺屋五右衛門 with Japanese-style pasta, but the classic carbonara was also exceptionally well executed and exceeded my expectations in a good way. The creamy sauce had an exquisite balance of egg and cheese, rich without being cloying, so I enjoyed it to the last bite. The thick-cut bacon was fragrant and well coated in sauce, adding to the satisfaction. The pasta was cooked al dente in 五右衛門’s characteristic style, with a smooth texture that suited the sauce well. The restaurant was clean and calm, and I felt comfortable dining alone. The staff were polite and the food arrived smoothly. Access from 中野 Station is convenient, making it easy to stop by after shopping or work. With both Western- and Japanese-style options available, it made me want to try another menu item next time.
View on GoogleFirst, the cutlery and tray were dirty. They were dirty. And overall the staff were cold and careless. As I tried to pick up the napkin for my lap, the pasta was carelessly placed on top of it. The most unpleasant part was paying. I first said I’d pay by credit card, but then politely said I’d prefer cash after all, and for some reason the staff member instructed me in an overly familiar tone, “Ah, credit card.” I think they could simply change or cancel the payment method. It makes no sense. You’re not suited to customer service, lol
View on GoogleI stopped by because I felt like having pasta. I chose the option with 2 types of pasta, and both were delicious! The restaurant is underground, with the smell and darkness typical of a basement, so I thought that might bother some people.
