Great food, amazing host!
View on GoogleCozy, lovely atmosphere, great food and service.
View on Googleやまねこ亭 is what you'd call a neighborhood set-meal restaurant, but cat ornaments are displayed here and there inside, giving it a comforting cuteness. Perhaps cats are the theme; those little touches were very charming. The food consists of freshly cooked rice, carefully prepared side dishes, and soothing miso soup—exactly the sort of set meal that fits into everyday life. Around lunchtime, people who seemed to be regulars kept coming in, showing that it's a popular place rooted in the neighborhood. It's unflashy, but properly delicious, a warm diner that leaves you feeling comforted. It felt like the kind of neighborhood place you want to cherish.
View on GoogleThe food had a very homey flavor and was delicious. When I looked it up and saw photos of the menu, I thought they only had meat dishes, but there were plenty of fish dishes too. Apparently the fish dishes are written on a board inside. I promptly had the miso-simmered mackerel set. It was tender, without any harsh taste, and very comforting. The service was cheerful too, and I enjoyed a relaxing moment listening to Himuro in the background.
View on GoogleI stopped by when I came to see a performance at a nearby theater. It was right around lunchtime, and there seemed to be lots of office workers. The place was packed with photos of a cute orange tabby cat and Kyosuke Himuro merchandise, and the background music was Kyosuke Himuro the whole time. There were songs I knew too, and I almost started singing while eating (haha). The recommended chicken nanban set used branded Daisen chicken! It was a really filling portion and so delicious that I decided I'd definitely come back. And then I stopped by again for lunch the next day (haha). This time, I think it was saikyo-yaki. The fish was thick, satisfying, and very delicious♪ It's a place I'd definitely like to stop by if I get the chance to visit Nakano again!
