Charcoal-grilled barbecue is the best! The restaurant was recommended by my younger brother and was also featured on the TV show Solitary Gourmet. The show didn’t lie— the food and overall experience were fabulous. The restaurant is located in a residential area with a great atmosphere and seems to be very popular among local residents. Experiencing such a local vibe at this restaurant was truly wonderful. The food was amazing, especially the grilled meat with wasabi, which was incredibly impressive. Highly recommended!
View on GoogleQuality of the meats were very good. Unlike a lot of yakiniku places they give you a side dish of toasted sesame seeds. I always hated sesame seeds sprinkled on raw meat because they would burn by the time they finish cooking or they would gradually get stuck to the grill and make it burn faster. Anyways the rice was mushy like a paste. Unfortunate.

View on GoogleDon’t let the (inaccurate) bad reviews of this restaurant scare you away. I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant and found the staff to be very pleasant — I don’t understand why other reviewers are complaining about bad service. The waitresses were working hard and were really nice. The food was absolutely delicious! It was also very reasonably priced. I had the Wasabi Karubi, the Recommended Karubi, and the Special Karubi. All were really tasty. This restaurant is a little out of the way (it’s not too bad if you’re staying in Shinjuku or Ikebukuro), but it’s well worth the trip. Reservations are a must - the first time I attempted going to the restaurant, they did not have any tables available until an hour later, so I opted to come back when I had a reservation. I didn’t have any troubles making one and I’m glad I got a chance to eat here!
View on GoogleA restaurant where a certain ゴロー stopped by for a meal. Open evenings only. I called to reserve on the day before going. It was around 19:00 on a weekday, and although I was dining alone, getting a reservation was easy. The restaurant was full. A staff member hurriedly cleared a table so I could sit. The interior is narrow and deep. Along the left wall are about 4 tables for 4, with 2 tatami seating areas at the back. The right side is rather cluttered and appears to be the kitchen. Perhaps because it was full, the whole place was smoky. The rear tatami area in particular had no ventilation, and the smoke made my eyes water for the first time in ages. There was only 1 person serving, and they seemed unable to keep up with a full house. They came to take my order after a while, but unless you ask, they neither offer nor serve the complimentary barley tea and cabbage. There aren't many types of meat, and the people next to me kept ordering 丸. I also chose 丸, 三角, and わさびカルビ. The わさびカルビ arrived first. I thought there was more wasabi than I could possibly eat… but it had lost its heat and aroma and was dry. I had my doubts, but the karubi was fatty, tender, and delicious. 丸 has a pleasantly chewy texture. 三角 is fatty and melts in your mouth. All the meat was delicious, with no unpleasant smell at all. One order of namul is enough to make you wonder if it's for 2〜3 people? The same goes for the soup. Even a single serving of meat is substantial. At first, the prices look a little cheap, but everything is generous, so it may actually be good value. The interior doesn't feel clean. The windows are wide open for ventilation even in midsummer. It takes about 20 minutes from ordering to receiving the food (possibly depending on timing). When it gets quieter, the lady from the kitchen comes onto the floor and starts chatting with regulars, making it hard to order more. Perhaps it's easier to visit once you've been a few times and learned the restaurant's rules. Cash only. There was no register; they calculated the bill on a smartphone calculator. No receipt either, but I don't think there were any mistakes in the bill. It was about 6000円 per person.
