Established 46 years ago, this is a characterful place that looks like it could appear on ゼツ飯ロード. Ordered the daily set meal for 1000円. Salt-grilled sanma with 2 small side dishes, miso soup, and rice. How long has it been since I last ate grilled fish... Comfortingly delicious. Inside, there's an L-shaped counter around the kitchen and 2 tables seating 4. The warmth of the owner and his wife also left an impression. Thank you for the meal~
View on GoogleAfter visiting 新井藥師梅照院, we happened to discover this eatery. The food served by the couple who own it was delicious, and the service was warm; since we don't speak Japanese, we were a little nervous about ordering at first. Fortunately, a regular customer spoke Chinese and helped us communicate and order, allowing us to enjoy such delicious food; also, since the owners are elderly, they currently open each week on Tuesday and Friday. This year marks their 46th year in business, so happy birthday in advance🎂

View on GoogleIt was very delicious. I had the omakase course, and everything from the opening appetizer to the main dish was delicious. Every dish was exquisitely seasoned, with flavors that never became tiresome. When I asked, the staff said the vegetables came from their own farm. The sake was local sake from 秩父, a place connected to the owner. It was my first time trying it, but every one was easy to drink and kept me reaching for more. I visited during evening hours this time, but next time I'd like to come for lunch.
View on GoogleA long-established tempura restaurant in the temple-front neighborhood of 新井薬師. They serve lunch too. Primarily an evening spot, and irresistible for sake lovers. Visited at lunchtime. The staff were friendly and made a good impression. Daily set meal (800円). Aji tempura with 2 small side dishes, miso soup, and pickles. The portion was decent. The aji tempura had many small bones and was a little difficult to eat. It was also disappointing that it had been prepared ahead rather than freshly fried. The side dishes tasted like Grandma's cooking and were delicious. They almost felt more like the main attraction than the tempura. The rice was slightly cold and somewhat hard, which was a letdown since I'd been looking forward to tempura with piping-hot rice. There's a peculiar nostalgia resembling home cooking at Grandma's house in the countryside, so I'd especially recommend it to people who enjoy that.
