A shop right in front of Nakano Station's South Exit. The fruit sandwiches are delicious. Most are sweet, snack-like items, but there are also lots of sandwiches that could make a meal, like the roast beef sandwich. The fruit is huge, so just one fills you up. Payment was convenient too, with transit IC cards and various other options accepted.

A handmade sandwich shop that's particular about ingredients, but because of that, it costs about twice as much as convenience store sandwiches. Whether you can accept that is probably what decides if you become a repeat customer.

I went to Nakano Station for the first time in a while, and Merhen had opened. Apparently it just opened on 11/8 (this year). I remembered eating it when I went to Nishi-Hachioji long ago and being amazed that fruit sandwiches could be this good, so I bought the Mango Fresh Cream (638 yen incl. tax). This spot used to be the NEW DAYS convenience store. The shop is on the small side, but it was busy. I took it home and ate it, and it was so delicious I was moved. It's a bit pricey, but I think it's worth trying. By the way, when I checked the company profile on the official website, it was founded in 1983. I realized it has a long history.

11/24 Mon. Opened amid the redevelopment of Nakano South Exit. It's great that Merhen, a sandwich shop with reliably delicious, hearty sandwiches, has opened. This used to be where the police box was. Is it only for a limited few years??
