An onigiri shop. Takeout and eat-in. However, as of 2021年05月, the eat-in area is closed because of the COVID pandemic. Head north from Nakano Station, then turn onto Waseda-dori toward Ochiai. About 10-12 minutes from the station. Open year-round, starting at 7 in the morning. Closes when sold out. They used to accept reservations for noon onward, but no longer take reservations. ※※※※※ I went after 9 in the morning, and there was already a “Sold out today, thank you” sign... ※※※※※ Visited at 6:50 in the morning on a day off. There was already a line. The shop opened 5 minutes before 7. On my 3rd visit, I finally got tenmusu. The shrimp in the salty batter had a good salty flavor and was delicious. ※※※※※ Wanting tenmusu, I learned from my previous visit and arrived before 7 in the morning. Clear skies. About 5 people were already lining up. After opening, only one person could enter at a time, so I got in at 7:5-6. The shelves were already nearly empty... The tenmusu was sold out too. Bought salmon, mentaiko, takana, okaka, and sides (karaage and tamagoyaki). Delicious... ※※※※※ During GW, when Tokyo was under its 3rd COVID state of emergency. Visited at 8:30 in the morning. The shop is small, so only 1 group enters at a time. You can go in once the previous customer comes out. Amazingly, before 9, the shelves were already nearly empty. They said they wouldn't make any more that day, so this really is purely the owner's hobby shop lol. A hobby shop run by a former chef who spent 40 years cooking at kappo and ryotei restaurants. There's absolutely no commercial ambition. If you want a free choice of everything, do you have to line up at 7 in the morning...? I bought the remaining promotional 4-piece pack (780円) and the komusubi set (500円). The promotional pack contained salmon, tarako, mentaiko, and takana. The slightly small onigiri are gently formed: they don't fall apart in your hand, but the rice loosens in your mouth. They're tightly packed with large-cut fillings, so they're satisfying despite being small. The komusubi set contains salmon, okaka, takana, yukari shirasu ➕ karaage ×2 and tamagoyaki ×2 as sides. In other words, a set of 4 very small onigiri and sides. Each komusubi looks about the size of one piece of sushi with less rice. Like the regular size (although this shop's regular size is quite small too), they hold together in your hand, gently fall apart in your mouth, and are packed full of filling. The dashi flavor in the unassuming tamagoyaki is really delicious. I wish they'd sell the tamagoyaki on its own lol. Both the stern-looking male staff member and the chatty female staff member are charming.

The 500円 komusubi set was sooo delicious~! A set of 4 small omusubi, karaage, and dashimaki tamago. Then I went back after a long time, and the komusubi set was sold out. They only had the promotional pack, so I bought that. It contained 4 onigiri. Was it 700円? I love the onigiri here because the fillings are sooo delicious and generous! I especially love the salmon! It feels like there's a whole piece of fillet inside!

They sell onigiri with classic fillings. They also have karaage and tamagoyaki, which are sold in sets with onigiri too. The flavor is quite salty, but the fillings are generous, making them satisfying. Each onigiri costs around 200円, but I think buying a set offers a little better value. As for opening hours, I think they start around 6:00? They usually close around 10:00. On Saturdays and Sundays, people come to buy from early in the morning, so they may sell out if you don't go early. Their days off seem irregular. I guess sometimes they're open and sometimes they're not.

The slightly salty onigiri are incredibly delicious. I bought a set of 3 onigiri + karaage and tamagoyaki, thinking it might be a bit much… but polished it off. Even when I planned to leave some for lunch, I couldn't stop eating and finished it all in the morning. Maybe they've been opening a little earlier recently, because sometimes they're nearly sold out even before 9.

I bought a set, plus individual tenmusu, karaage musubi?, and tamagoyaki. Very delicious. When I asked the owner, they said they open at 7 in the morning. I went without knowing that, but they kindly helped me anyway. Having had a proper breakfast, I feel ready to give the day my best.
