Dandan dumplings were absolutely amazing. As an ethnically Chinese person with ample dumpling exposure in life, I was pleasantly surprised by how novel the experience of eating it was. It was flavourful, not too salty, and nicely balanced by the parsley. Tried the cheese dumplings too and they were also great! There’s a crispy layer over the dumplings that’s super unique—I haven’t seen with any other dumplings I’ve eaten before. It makes for a nice crunch. The restaurant tables are also really huge, so if you are looking for a place that isn’t crammed, you may have come to the right place. For non Japanese-speaking travellers: note that the whole menu is in Japanese.

Who knew there would be a trendy Gyoza place in Nogata. I love this area for very local diners. Their gyozas are known for not having any chives or garlic which are the core ingredients in most gyoza recipes. They definitely proved that they taste great even without. (They will give you a bit of garlic on side though.) I went for lunch. There is a line outside to get in. Their gyoza is a very simple ones with the crispy wing. They will tell you how to enjoy them. Their sides are accommodate well with their gyoza as well. The service was quick and very reasonable. It is a go to place for a quick lunch place.

The best gyoza I’ve ever tried. The sauces add a unique kick, the meat is outstanding and the dough is perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is quite cozy as well

野方 (Nogata) Dumpling (Gyoza) is a locally famous restaurant. It's near the Nogata station, which is on the 西武新宿 (Seibu Shinjuku) line. There are two kind of signature Gyoza sold in this restaurant: Pan-fried Gyoza and the Cheese Gyoza. The flavor of Cheese Gyoza is thick and good to taste. My pic shows that the Gyoza whose skin is thinner and more crispy is different from the Chinese dumpling. The restaurant will show how to eat these gyoza with appropriate sauce. It is very suitable to have a midnight snack here.
