Food and service were excellent. Sunday with reservation. Pleasant interior and vibe, suitable for dates and family gathering. The server from Tijuana was great, really good at his job. He spoke really good Japanese and English. I felt at ease dining here. 🦐 shrimp and crab enchiladas - was perfect. That mole sauce if I’m not mistaken was money! Love the tobiko topping! The masa tortilla was just solid, the filling could be a little more generous I think. 🌽 squid ink tamale with white fish filling - very unique but still comforting, and nostalgic. I just loved the taste of the masa not being overpowered by anything too fishy. However, it wasn’t something I would crave again. 🥑 chicharron with guacamole - perfect combo m and best guacamole in Japan… not even close. I think they make better guac than myself (being a chef who grew up in Texas and an extremely picky eater) 🍖 adobo ribs - best thing at this restaurant. Succulent, tender, adobo sauce was so complex and I could feel Mexico in my mouth. The accompanying slaw and mash - I didn’t care for that red cabbage slaw but the potato mash was buttery and I’m pretty sure they made it with Japanese sweet potato which just balances the richness and velvety texture with a comforting sweetness. It was a perfect dish (minus the slaw that needed more acidity) 🍰 tres leches - classic. It was really good… one of my comfort food as a kid, a vanilla sponge soaked in 3 milks and topped with whipped cream. Their version was also topped with toasted coconut and blueberry. Highly recommend this place, after a string of disappointing dining experiences for me in Tokyo recently (too many overrated places), I can say Kuma Cantina is an exception and a standout. I think there are tiny rooms for improvement. 4.5/5
View on GoogleWe have been looking for Mexican food spots around Tokyo and this one did not disappoint!! We only went for a few bites but we haven’t stopped thinking about the soft-shell crab tacos and birria gyoza here. Tony was very hospitable and even offered some other recommendations in the city and we’re looking forward to coming back sometime
View on GooglePedro and Tony provided amazing service! We ordered 7 entrees and 4 cocktails (and 3 shots) and it arrived quick and tasty. The food was a great fusion of flavors and the Pedro provided great recommendations. Tony made our drinks to be very delicious. We celebrated family’s birthday and was given a special tres leches cake with a candle. Thank you so much for amazing service and food!
View on GoogleThe absolute best experience in every way! They have managed to create the most incredible Mexican+Japanese fusion that offers the best of both cuisines in ways I didn’t realize was possible. I’ll be dreaming of the birria gyoza until my next trip to Tokyo, they are a “must have” and I don’t say that lightly! We also devoured the most delicious mushroom tacos, soft shell crab tacos and fresh ceviche with a chipotle mayo sauce on crisp tortillas. The salsa sampler provides four distinct salsas that we enjoyed with homemade chips and as a compliment to each of the entrees; they were so fresh and tasty, each with its own distinct flavors ranging from sweet to classic to spicy. Not to be forgotten was the selection of tequila and mezcal, Mexican beers, and a variety of margaritas and cocktails (I recommend the Paloma!). Also the art and music was spot on for the full experience, and the service was attentive from beginning to end. We only wish we had more room to try everything. Steps away to the train, it is easy to make time for this place and you will not forget it! We also learned they have weekend brunch, so we hope to try that next.
View on GoogleAmazing food and great atmosphere. A little pricy but 100% totally worth it not gonna lie! I recommend the ribs as they were totally the star of the show! I spent almost 100AUD and do not regret it as the food was great and cocktails were so nice too! Cuba Libre was really nice 😊
