I like spice curry made by Japanese cooks, so I thought I'd drop in while passing by, but huh? Even after checking G Maps, it should have been open… While I was peeking in and wandering around, the owner came out and said they were opening in the evening that day. I wish they'd put up a notice… I finally managed to visit another day. So, the long-awaited curry wasn't very strong in flavor: it was light, low in oil, and not spicy. Spices are set out as if to say, adjust it however you like. It felt light and healthy. It seems to turn into a drinking spot at night, so having drinks and finishing with curry is something I definitely need to come back for‼️
View on Google6 counter seats and 2 tables for 2. Verbal orders, cash payment. Irregular closing days, takeaway available. You apparently choose the rice amount, curry types, and toppings, but the menu was hard to understand at a glance, so I ordered 満天カレー because it was marked recommended. ¥1550- About 250g of rice. Two curries, grated vegetable curry and tantan keema curry, with a small fried-chicken-like karaage and fried white fish. Cucumber resembling shira-ae, pickled-style carrots, and pickles. A little cabbage. The vegetable curry was weak in savoriness, saltiness, spice, and aroma, with sweetness and acidity standing out. The cucumber and carrots had the same sweet-and-sour flavor, so they didn't provide the flavor changes you get from Indian curry accompaniments. The keema mainly highlighted the ingredients' savoriness too, without much spice. Both were low in heat. Considering the taste, quantity, and satisfaction, the value was somewhat poor. The reviews are highly rated, but even allowing that every visit is different, I can't believe we ate the same thing.
View on GoogleFor the two-curry combination, I chose the coarsely ground tantan keema and grated vegetable curry. Added 2 karaage as toppings. Large rice. The flavor was safe and tasty, but a bit hard to describe. It didn't really stick in my memory. The karaage was freshly made, hot, and delicious. Inside there are counter seats for about 7 people and 2 tables. There's a toilet at the back. They seem to serve alcohol, so it looked good for drinking with freshly made karaage or some of the several flat-price 300円 dishes, although I didn't order those. For toppings, cabbage is free, but it's a shame the rakkyo costs extra.
View on GoogleA spice curry restaurant along 新青梅街道, quite far from the station. The menu seems to have changed considerably from before. Since I was there, I ordered 「満店カレー」, which seemed like an everything-on-top option. ・Coarsely ground tantan keema curry ・Grated vegetable curry ・Karaage ・Fried fish ・Okara and potato salad ・Carrot râpée Plus shredded cabbage, fukujinzuke, and a separately served salad. It looked quite indulgent. The coarsely ground tantan keema came topped with a raw egg. Good flavor, good texture. I think I'd prefer just the yolk rather than a whole raw egg. The grated vegetable curry was fruity and thin, with a pleasant ginger flavor. Both were moderately spicy, so I adjusted them with the hot spices on the table. They really boosted the heat, which was nice. The karaage was fried-chicken style. The fried fish might have been cod. It brought British fish & chips to mind. Freshly fried, piping hot, and delicious. The side dishes were carefully made too, which was good. Portion-wise, I was about nine-tenths full. Overall, it somehow didn't give me that "this is it" feeling, so I'd appreciate a little more punch.
View on GoogleThe keema curry had a nice spice kick, a little heat, and was delicious! The grated vegetable curry had a somewhat strong tomato flavor and felt a bit lacking… the flavor was light. The karaage I ordered as a separate topping was crispy, juicy, and delicious!
