This place is awesome! They have incredibly fresh seafood and inventive dishes. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly.
View on GoogleYou can enjoy various dishes made with shellfish. They're all delicious, with reliably good flavors. The shochu containing hamaguri extract mixed with tomato juice was delicious too. Recommended dishes featuring seasonal ingredients are written on a blackboard at the very back of the shop, in very neat, clear, easy-to-read handwriting. Rewriting this blackboard is shown in short videos on Instagram and elsewhere. Watching one is how I learned about this place.
View on GoogleMy first visit. An irresistible place for shellfish lovers! There are counter seats and tables at the back, so I think it's best for 1.2 people up to around 4. First, the bread and scallop-butter paste served as the appetizer were delicious, and I had another helping of bread. There are also tasting sets of raw oysters from different regions. This time we had 3 kinds of raw oysters, grilled oysters (nori butter), gratin, ajillo, fried oysters, steamed shellfish, ramen to finish, sparkling wine, white wine, and their original tomato sour. As a shellfish restaurant, they had quite a few white wines, but regular sours and sake too. The original tomato sour was a flavor I'd never tried: shellfish stock and tomato juice topped with black pepper! Very delicious. Maybe because it's mixed with stock, it felt unlikely to make me unpleasantly drunk. The gratin was rich, the steamed shellfish offered several kinds, and the finishing ramen in rich stock was very satisfying. If I had to mention one thing, the food portions felt a little small. Partly because there were 4 of us, it felt like every dish disappeared the moment it arrived haha ※Maybe everyone was hungry Overall it felt very healthy, and I'm satisfied. Thank you.
View on GoogleA senior invited me to a shellfish restaurant, so we all came to しるひ! I spent the whole day drinking sours mixed with tomato juice and shellfish stock! Adding black pepper or Tabasco partway through to change the flavor was delicious too! As for the food, from oyster tastings to all kinds of shellfish dishes, it was fun enjoying everything! I was surprised by the unexpectedly high quality of the shijimi-dashi salt ramen we had to finish! Maybe because I ate so many shellfish dishes, I had no hangover despite drinking a ton that day! It was delicious and I'd like to come again!
View on Google20240415 Visited for dinner with my girlfriend In the end, my girlfriend was delighted, while I felt it was underwhelming. I think they use good, fresh ingredients. From the name 貝や しるひ and the sign's appearance, I imagined Japanese-style flavors on my own, but the shop's design, atmosphere, and food were Western-style. The drinks also seemed to favor wine over sake……I don't think there's a worse pairing than raw oysters+wine…… First, the appetizer (400円) Tasting of 3 kinds of raw oysters (1800円) 3-kind shellfish sashimi platter (2100円) Asari with green chili miso Butter-grilled shiro mirugai? Fried oysters Sazae ajillo Extra appetizer bread Ordered drinks The appetizer was good The asari with green chili miso was delicious, but it was a shame there was no plain rice The oyster tasting was delicious but expensive (well, maybe unavoidable since they're out of season) For the sashimi platter, I actually wanted 5 kinds (4500円), but it was expensive & I don't see the value in eating abalone as sashimi, so I chose 3 kinds, but it was disappointing. I think the ingredients were fairly good, but the quantity was small & they were cut too small. They probably have little experience preparing sashimi as Japanese cuisine. The akagai was plump and delicious, but the decorative cuts and preparation were lacking; it could be made tastier. The sazae was different from the one in the shell, probably a small one, less than a whole specimen, chopped finely & without the liver I look forward to (especially delicious in males), so that was disappointing. The shiro mirugai was also cut too small and probably less than a whole specimen. The fried oyster coating was excellent and delicious, but the flesh had shrunk, perhaps from overcooking, which was disappointing. From the coating, I suspect a thicker batter with fine breadcrumbs, with the prepared pieces then frozen. It seems good for enjoying Spanish or Western-style shellfish dishes. But as someone living in 池袋, I felt there was no need to go all the way to 中野 for this. My girlfriend comes from 埼玉 too. So it was delicious, but the prices were high for the flavor, which was disappointing.
