The food is good traditional Japanese style Chinese food. He immediately served me water. I had the Five Flavor Yakisoba (五目焼きそば). The noodles came crispy under a thick blanket of veggies and pork. There was a little quail egg on top. Two potstickers that came with it were tasty and crisp on the bottom. The soup was gentle and yummy. The main dish had a lot of oil in it, as might be expected from this style, but the oil and other ingredients were all fresh. The shop owner has been doing this for 35 years in this shop. He takes pride in his cooking and has a nice, friendly smile. The condiments are simple and they were all full. The TV is on and gives a feeling of being home. There are some manga. The shop is greasy from the cooking, but it is not dirty. I can tell that he cleans it diligently in his own way. I would imagine this shop is probably popular among locals, gentlemen, especially single gentlemen or businessmen. The shop owner is the perfect balance of friendly but polite.
View on GoogleIt feels like a true Showa-era neighborhood Chinese restaurant. It's valuable that places like this keep going, more so than the same old shops renting Sumitomo Realty premises in front of the station. Recommended for anyone wanting good old-fashioned Chinese food. The name Juraku (寿楽) reminds me of Hotel Juraku (聚楽), but from now on I'll probably also think of this Chinese restaurant in Nakano. Both 聚楽 and 寿楽 are etched in my memory through their shared Showa flavor. Today I'm eating out again as part of my rounds of Anytime Fitness locations. I resisted the temptation of ramen and chose stir-fried meat and vegetables and gyoza. It's right behind Anytime Fitness Nakano. The aged exterior is a little intimidating, but speak up loudly when ordering. The interior lacks ventilation, so be aware if cooking fumes bother you. I like the moderately crisp vegetables and the pickles that aren't ready-made. The gyoza are generously, boldly plated and piping hot. They look a little unruly, but that's part of the charm. I think their appeal lies a little outside the average appearance and flavor of gyoza. A review here said smoking was allowed, but I didn't notice. It wasn't particularly smoky. I think the lightly salted soup is nice. After eating plenty and paying, I went straight to Anytime Fitness for pull-ups to suppress a sharp rise in blood sugar.
View on GoogleVisited on Friday at 11:40 Counter seats only. Ordered fried rice and half ramen Served in 6 minutes The fried rice is ordinary The ramen soup pairs really well At 900円, it's good value. Many customers were ordering main dishes. Maybe I'll try those next time.
View on GoogleNakano's beloved neighborhood Chinese restaurant🍜✨ Chuka Ryori Juraku (ジュラク) I walked in right as they opened at 11 and the local older guys were already slurping ramen🤣 Then after that a bunch of drunk young people heading home in the morning filled the place up all at once🈵💥 An older guy next to a youngster ordering bottled beer said "You guys should just drink water already lol"🤣 That little quip made it feel so peaceful😂 👇In the middle of all that, here's what I ordered👇 🍳 Fried rice 🍜 Half ramen from the Manpuku Set The fried rice is moist and leans oily✨ The grains aren't separate and fluffy but the gentle seasoning brings out the egg・chashu・green onion😋 Then the half ramen "Is there shiitake in the seasoning base?🤔" is what its distinctive umami made me wonder🍄✨ It goes so well with the Chinese noodles and fried rice that I finished the noodles first🍜 Eat fried rice ↓ Drink soup ↓ Eat fried rice ↓ Drink soup An endless loop♻️🤣 This might be the first time I've almost finished all the broth in a neighborhood Chinese restaurant's half ramen😳 You can feel from the atmosphere inside that it's loved by young and old, men and women😌✨ This is the essence of Showa-era neighborhood Chinese dining🐉 🐷 Suzuhide (すずひで) in the north 🐲 Juraku (ジュラク) in the south So can we say Nakano is an auspicious town sandwiched between "寿" characters?🤣✨
View on GoogleGomoku fried rice and half ramen A neighborhood Chinese restaurant in an alley just off the main road on the south side of the station. It's fairly close to the station, but I didn't expect a restaurant here A typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant with counter seating only It seems to be run by two older men who divide the work The gomoku even has crab on top and tastes quite good; the ramen is perfectly satisfying too I'd like to come again
