I came alone a bit late on a Friday night and the restaurant was empty except for me and a group that was there when I arrived. The staff was a little cold. Not to the point of being rude, but not friendly either. The food tasted nice but the portions were a bit small. They had a few Mexican beers. Probably better to come as a group and share a couple of dishes and have drinks together. Cash only.

Too expensive forthe small portion it provides. And it was not delicious. I ordered Mexican food but they gave me strange food which are totally not Mexican style…

Geronimo is an old-fashioned steakhouse about a 10-minute walk from Higashi-Nakano Station. It is easy to see why it has lasted so long in this area, and I have found myself going back many times. The main steak is lean sagari-type meat, without excess fat, relying squarely on the meat's savory flavor. It comes out juicy, with the flavor spreading through your mouth with every bite. The butter on top does a good job, slowly melting into the hot meat and adding richness. This combination is simple but thoroughly satisfying. Strangely, even 300g does not feel heavy, and before you know it, you have finished it easily. The sauce is probably their own recipe. It is not too sweet, has some acidity, and goes well with the meat. Personally, I quite like it; the balance keeps it enjoyable to the end. The table seasonings are simply black pepper and salt. You can sense their confidence that it works without unnecessary additions. When it is busy, it can take more than 30 minutes to be served, so it is best to go when you have time to spare. On the other hand, I think that means it is delicious enough that people are willing to wait anyway. Many customers inside seem to be locals, giving it the feel of a place people visit regularly. A dependable steakhouse you want to choose when you feel like properly filling up on genuinely tasty meat. I think it is just right for a day when you want a hearty meal without any fuss.
