Visited after 15:00 following GW Around 3 other groups were there They seem to stay open without a break, so getting a seat easily was a relief The sets have quite generous portions of both rice and soba The soba broth was the non-sweet kind I like, so ◎ I had a lovely time
View on GoogleA restaurant I visit when I have business in 吉祥寺 around lunchtime. I hadn’t been in a while, but the timing worked out and I went in. Soba restaurants have such a simple, ungreedy, quiet atmosphere, don’t they? For some reason, when I come here, I often order rice bowls rather than soba. Something good happened today, so I ordered the premium tendon. I was so hungry that I’d already eaten 1 shrimp. Sorry it looks messy💦 The tendon here is delicious. Good oil. Fairly large shrimp and good batter. Good sauce too. I have it every time, and it’s delicious. The brewed coffee at the end is good too. It’s far from 吉祥寺 Station, but it’s a delicious soba restaurant.

View on GoogleIt’s on the left along 吉祥寺通り, a 2–3 minute walk north from the 四軒寺 intersection. I visited around 11:30 before lunch on a weekday and had hiyashi chuka. The interior isn’t very large, but there were 2 customers before me. Those 2 left while I was eating, and 2 new customers came in... Being a comfortable distance from central 吉祥寺, it has just the right level of busyness. The hiyashi chuka was delicious, with a noticeable sesame oil aroma. Many of the ingredients were reused directly from the ramen, but the chashu wasn’t chopped up; it was one whole slice of meat, and quite salty too, so I might prefer it chopped or replaced with ham...
View on GoogleWhile the building’s exterior looks new, the furnishings and menu inside have a certain gravitas, or the aura of a long-established restaurant. When I asked the proprietress, she said it was founded in Showa 46. A true neighborhood soba restaurant rooted in 吉祥寺 for over half a century. Complimentary pickles on arrival and coffee after the meal. Thoughtful touches like these are rare nowadays. There’s a varied lineup of sets, set meals, Chinese noodles, and omurice, all reasonably priced. I had a rice-bowl set, which was generous and even came with miso soup. The soba was long, supple, firm, and refreshingly cold. There are counter and table seats. Groups of up to 4 should be able to sit together. One television plays variety shows as background sound. Time passed leisurely in the early afternoon.
