Sorry but their meat dishes are disgusting. Is it cut pieces of towel or meat?

A basement Chinese restaurant on Suehiro-dori, slightly toward Kichijoji Station. The restaurant is fairly old and the interior rather dim, but the daily lunch at 700円(before tax)is excellent value. In Kichijoji, a place where you can eat reasonably tasty Chinese food quickly and cheaply is actually quite valuable. The side vegetables were old and dried out, but if you do not worry about the little things, I think it is very good for lunch!

Located on basement level 1 of a building along Suehiro-dori, east of Kichijoji Station and one street north of Inokashira-dori. I wandered around Kichijoji on a weekday evening looking for dinner. I had assumed this was an all-you-can-eat-only place, but a closer look at the menu outside revealed evening set meals. The prices were the same as lunch too, so I decided to go in. I had imagined a large venue, but it was a restaurant that would be full with just 20 people. A female cook prepared the food, and an older man served. Perhaps because of their age, the interior felt a little cluttered. The menu is authentic Chinese, but the feel is that of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I ordered black vinegar sweet-and-sour pork for 880円. Sweet-and-sour pork is coated in potato starch, so some restaurants sometimes serve meat that is practically all starch, but the pork here was all meat and a rather good cut. The vinegar-to-soy-sauce ratio, amount of vegetables, and so on were better than expected. Cash only. Close to Kichijoji Station, yet cheap and delicious.

My first visit, drawn by the prominent “Hong Kong cuisine” sign near Kichijoji Station. There are many ordinary Chinese restaurants, but the specific mention of “Hong Kong cuisine” intrigued me, so I went in. Although it is in a basement, the Wi-Fi works, which is handy for lunch. When I entered just after 12, there were only a few groups, but customers soon poured in and before I knew it, it was full. Many seemed local, suggesting it is a popular place. This time I ordered fried rice and pan-fried gyoza. The owner is somewhat brusque, but chats warmly with Chinese-speaking regulars. Not in a bad way; it feels like the ‘energy of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant.’ Each grain of fried rice was thoroughly coated in oil; rather than being dry and separate, it was the ‘slightly moist Hong Kong style.’ There were lots of chunky pieces of chashu, with a strong aroma and savory flavor, and it was delicious. The gyoza also kept their meat juices well sealed in, with relatively thin wrappers but crisp browned bottoms, making them very satisfying. The only slight disappointment was the lack of a fried rice set menu, but the flavor quality was certainly good enough. It is a place I would want to revisit when I want a quick, delicious Hong Kong-style Chinese meal.

A Chinese restaurant with inexpensive set prices for dinner as well as lunch. The food is quite tasty. The prices are reasonable and the portions substantial, which is good. I ordered tonporo, and its flavor was clearly different from kakuni. It was meltingly tender and delicious. The noodle dishes are more authentic in style and feel a little different from Japanese ramen, so the noodles were somewhat stiff.
