Chinchin-tei is a legendary "B-grade gourmet" spot that, along with nearby rivals Maruzen and Ippei-soba, claims to be the original birthplace of Aburasoba. While the menu is in Japanese only, you can easily get by using translation apps like Google Lens. What is Aburasoba? It literally means "oil noodles," but don't let the name intimidate you. It’s a soup-less noodle dish with thick, chewy noodles coated in a rich, savory sauce. The "pro move" is to drizzle vinegar and chili oil (Ra-yu) from the tabletop containers over your bowl before mixing it all up. Be prepared to wait in line, as it’s always packed during lunch hours. To be honest, it might not be a "gourmet masterpiece," but it’s a beloved soul food destination that many locals find themselves craving again and again.
View on GoogleThis restaurant is the original home of abura soba, and the dish was absolutely outstanding. The flavors were rich yet perfectly balanced, making it one of the most memorable bowls I’ve ever had. The noodles had such a wonderful texture, and every bite was deeply satisfying. It was truly delicious and an experience that felt special from start to finish. I left completely happy and impressed, and can honestly say it was one of the best meals I’ve enjoyed in a long time. This is definitely a place I’d love to visit again and again, as each visit would surely be just as amazing.

View on GoogleThe staff were friendly and absolutely wonderful. I had an enjoyable lunch with my daughter. I was astonished of how considerate they were to cut the char siu (pork) into thinner slices for her. I would definitely bring my family and friends there again.
