茶房 武蔵野文庫Café Musashino Bunko
Mellow eatery with traditional decor serving regional curry & sandwiches, plus coffee & tea.
We are 【茶房 武蔵野文庫】, a traditional coffee shop operating for 40 years in 吉祥寺, Tokyo. We carry on the flavors and culture of the traditional coffee shop 【茶房早稲田文庫】, which operated from the postwar period until Showa 59. Enjoy curry, cakes, and coffee carefully prepared using the original recipes from that time, in a retro space filled with a literary atmosphere.

About 35 seats, though cozy to the edge of cramped. Atmosphere seems mostly literary and British, though the books are in closed cases and some of the wall art is modern and some is old Japanese. Soft classical music in the background identified as "Liszt: Die Forelle, S. 564" with a link to Schubert. Counter is a bit high and dim for studying. No Wi-Fi. Flavorful coffee and overall I'll call it a high four stars.
View on GoogleOld fashioned cafe. Probably hasn't seen a new coat of paint since the Showa era, but that just adds to it's charm. Reasonable coffee but the lemon cake was a little dry and definitely needed the coating of cream on top to freshen it up.
View on GoogleThe best poached apples I've ever had! Friendly staff, quiet place and quick service. They serve curry too and I can't wait to go back and try that!
View on GoogleI ordered Perrier palm drink and curry rice, and it only cost 1500 yen. Super delicious and cheap in Tokyo. Highly recommended.
View on GooglePossibly the most delicious Japanese curry I've ever had. It is addictive. Once you know about it, you just keep coming back. The pickles are perfect. And the coffee is really, really good. They even sell some really nice cups and saucers. I can deal with the surly owner - it's totally worth it. The restaurant is cute and cozy.
