Best meal on the island !!
View on GoogleGood
View on GoogleThis is a diner in 神着(かみつき), in northern 三宅島, recommended by a local guide. The quiet owner makes delicious food. I had the 「いか天ぷら定食」 squid tempura set, and it was delicious.
View on GoogleThank you for taking care of my dinners for 3 days. The food is delicious. Just delicious. There are no drinking snacks, only set meals. Some might think, only set meals? But I really hope you'll try the food at least once. The owner, in his 80s, does everything himself. It feels as comfortable as coming home to Grandpa's. There is tatami seating, so children are fine too. My recommendation is the tempura set. There's plenty of tempura—shrimp, white fish, and wild greens such as tara shoots and ashitaba—but it's not oily; it's light and crispy, so you can eat lots. I'd eaten ashitaba tempura about 2 times on 八丈島 and found it oily, which had put me off, but I was surprised by how fresh the oil was and how delicious it tasted here. I can sort of understand the negative comments people have written. Was he initially shy around strangers? The service was ordinary, the kind you often encounter. But on the 2nd day, when I was the only customer and was about to leave right after eating, he asked, why not relax a little longer? We started chatting about all sorts of things and became friendly. Once you talk to him, he's kind, and it feels as comfortable as coming home to Grandpa's. Since the elderly owner runs everything alone, handling large groups seems quite difficult. I don't mind the occasional blunt remark, as I think older people on pretty much any island are often like that. Thank you so much for those 3 days. I won't write much here, but thanks to you, 三宅島 became such a wonderful memory. Thank you, truly, truly. Please stay healthy always. Keep さぶちゃん going forever. And when I come back to 三宅島, please let me have your delicious tempura set again.
View on GoogleOrdered the grilled takabe set. Since an elderly person runs the place alone, it's best to allow plenty of time. However, while nearby eateries have their regular day off on Thursdays, this place was open. The takabe had a delicate flavour and was delicious.
