Beautiful place to visit!

View on GoogleIn 1962, a fissure eruption occurred on the mountainside connecting the summit of Oyama and Akabakkyo. At that time, lava shot up to a height of about 200m from the crater, and the scoria cone formed by the piling up of large amounts of volcanic ejecta reached a height of several tens of meters; its name "Sanshichiyama" comes from the year the eruption occurred. The summit is like an observation deck, or rather a viewing spot, where you can enjoy the contrast of sky, sea, and land divided by the stretching black lava and the horizon.

According to the information board, Sanshichiyama is a scoria cone formed by black pumice deposited during the eruption of Showa 37 (1962). Apparently a row of craters formed up to around the 8th station of Oyama, and a curtain of fire could be seen.
