One-person operation I'm always a regular at "Sasamoto" in Shinjuku, but today I came here, the noren-wake offshoot? Lately I've been hanging out at bars on the east side of Tokyo,,, compared to those prices, the pricing is on the expensive side The one-of-a-kind? budou-wari (wine+shochu) is guaranteed to get you blackout drunk☠️ The nikomi skewers and cabbage are delicious🤤
View on GoogleI'm not the type who likes to travel far, but Mitaka is actually a pretty nice place. Kichijoji is crowded, and with Nishiogi, Chuo Line trains don't stop there on weekend nights, so in that sense I felt it was a place I wanted to explore. So I charged into this place I'd been curious about for a while. Opening time is 17:30, but when I came by close to 18:30, the place was quiet, and when I went in, the owner asked if it was okay that the air conditioning was broken, I answered no problem! and took a seat. Draft beer in hand, I looked over the menu and pondered a lot, but since it was my first visit, I ordered ○Omakase Course A It consists of kushi nikomi (2 skewers), beef skewer (1 skewer), and pork skewers (3 skewers). ・Kushi nikomi →It looks like it's made in a white miso style, but it's not that sweet; it's really interesting because you get to eat various cuts, and since each is prepared properly, there's no gamey smell and it comes out plump and bouncy, and at that point I was convinced this place was a sure thing. ・Beef skewer →It's beef harami, and it's quite well done. When you bite into it, the juices seep out, it's really juicy. Ordered on its own it's ¥400, so it's by no means cheap, but I recommend it. After that, I enjoyed the pork skewers, switched to bottled beer and imo shochu partway through, and tried ordering the reba sashi and reba yaki, and the thick pork liver was a dish whose freshness was instantly clear, making me want to come back. The owner, who at first glance seemed unfriendly, turned out to be quite talkative once we got chatting, and when I told him I came from Kunitachi, he said, "Next time, just give me a call and I'll hold a seat for you." Apparently the place is usually crowded, and it was unusually quiet when I went, but several groups of customers came in while I was eating, so I can see why they say it gets busy.
View on GoogleThe taste is by no means bad, but the atmosphere isn't good. How do I put it, there's no energy. It's not about the service as such; maybe the owner just doesn't like the customer-facing business. And as an extension of that, maybe he doesn't even feel joy in serving food. No matter how good the ingredients, how sharp the eye, or how skilled the hands, I don't think anything moving can come of it if the cook doesn't feel joy.
View on Google【Sasayoshi's signature Kinmiya-wari! It hits hard☆ A place for superb motsu kushi nikomi, kushiyaki, and motsu sashi】 Shimorenjaku, Mitaka City, Tokyo. A popular spot known for superb motsu kushi nikomi and its signature Kinmiya shochu straight-wari. The owner comes from Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho and Ginza's "Sasamoto". The nearest station is Mitaka Station on the Chuo-Sobu Line. Recommended♪︎ ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶ On the weekend, I met up with a local friend at a standing bar, had about 3 drinks lightly, then headed here as the main event. I hadn't been since about 1~2 years after it opened, so it's been maybe 12 years. Anyway, it's been a really long time. Around 20:30, there was a couple of 2 ahead of us and 1 customer came after. The owner runs it solo. Order verbally, pay after. Max seating is about 9. The somewhat difficult-looking owner works in silence, so it's best to time your orders well φ(..) ◆Today's order◆ Recommended course 1500円 (2 kushi nikomi + 1 vegetable skewer + 4 assorted pork skewers) Beef senmai sashi 350円 Pork gatsu sashi 250円 Limited: Wagyu harami suji-yaki 500円 Beef senmai yaki 300円 Budou-wari (Kinmiya shochu + red wine) 550円 Suguri-wari (Kinmiya shochu + cassis) 550円 Shari-Kin (Kinmiya sherbet) ume-wari 660円 ※Drinks listed are only mine First up, the offal kushi nikomi, of course. Simmered well, with the flavor soaked all the way through. At Sasayoshi, this signature dish is a must, you'd be missing out otherwise. Brings back memories of "Shinjuku Sasamoto". So good♪︎ (๑´ڡ`๑) Next, the sashi arrived. The beef senmai, topped with green onion and onion lightly rubbed with salt, had a crunchy texture. I ate it with vinegar soy sauce, I think? The bouncy pork gatsu sashi is eaten with vinegared miso. Even though it's called sashi, maybe it's cooked at low temperature? Beef aside, it is pork after all. The grilled pork skewers were harami, hatsu, tan, and kalbi, if I remember right. The vegetable skewer was snap peas and onion. The quality of the offal and the seasoning were impeccable. Delicious(´ρ`) Then we ordered extra wagyu harami suji-yaki and beef senmai yaki. Now we're getting into it(o´∀`)o As for drinks, Sasayoshi's signature of straight Kinmiya mixed with a little grape or cassis, 3 glasses each! This stuff hits. My friend ended up totally wasted( ・∀・) About an hour and a half, a little over 3000円 per person. Well then, shall we go for a closing ramen? You know, that super popular, stamina-packed place in Mitaka at night! ε=(ノ゚Д゚)ノ Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho Sasamoto, maybe I'll drop by there too after so long☆٩(。•ω<。)و♪︎ #Sekiwake #MotsuNikomi #MotsuYaki #Horumon #SignatureKinmiyaWari #Straight25Degrees #UpTo3Glasses #Izakaya #Alum"ShinjukuSasamoto" #ColdService #ReservationsRecommendedOnWeekends #OnePersonOperation #SmallCapacity #NotForRowdyGroups #FirstVisitInAbout12Years #FinishWithStaminaRamen #NoMemoryFromTheWayHome #VeryLikelyToReturn
View on GoogleUsually when you make a reservation they often say "thank you", but not here. I was the only one saying thank you, and it left me feeling a bit off. When I visited on the day, they had also gotten the number of people in the reservation wrong, which bugged me again. I tried to be considerate and moved my plates aside, but he muttered a snide "if you can still use it, please don't clear it away", and I ended up saying sorry… The notice posted in the shop said that since it's a one-person operation some things may fall short, but I think it's a problem with the owner's hospitality. I'd been looking forward to it and the food was good, but the attitude was so disappointing that I never want to go again.
