I visited this place during Dazai’s Little Mitaka House exhibition and found it really interesting. We can see manuscripts and many of his personal belongings from the past. Taking pictures is limited and only allowed in certain areas.

The art gallery is on the 5th floor inside Mitaka Coral. Take the elevator instead of the stairs as it can be a bit confusing to see the doorway that has a stairway leading up to the main entrance. I went to check out the Osamu Dazai exhibit, a great first introspective look into Japanese literary works and their artists. I also checked out the Mitaka City Gallery of Art Collection II, the abstract art pieces being showcased were very impressive!

It's a good place but the guide direction should be clearer.

It's on the 5th floor of the "CORAL" shopping complex at the south exit of Mitaka Station. It's like a compact art museum, and it seems to hold special exhibitions from time to time. When I visited, there was an exhibition of works by "Someshi Yoshioka," a dyer from Kyoto. The many beautiful fabrics and garments dyed with natural dyes, including ones recreating ancient dyeing techniques, were stunning, and the exhibition was well worth seeing. Note that the Osamu Dazai exhibition room normally set up in this gallery is closed during special exhibition periods.

Got to meet Osamu Dazai for free! After a newly found handwritten letter was discovered, Mitaka City acquired it and it's now on display. Only after coming here did I learn that Osamu Dazai was a doting father. Other exhibitions are also held (for limited periods, etc.), and there are a few chairs and a vending machine that's super cheap by today's standards. The restrooms were also clean, spacious, and bright.
