Traditional soba and udon restaurant in the heart of suburban Nakahara. No English menu, but example dishes are on display and staff are friendly.

First of all, the shoyu ramen is extraordinarily delicious. The noodles are different from those served in the gomoku and shio ramen, with a soft, moist texture like egg noodles. Since many customers are workers from nearby construction sites, the salt content is on the high side, but if you want to enjoy old-fashioned Tokyo ramen, you should definitely come here. It may taste salty to people from other regions. In eastern Japanese dialect, it is shoppai In Hokuriku dialect, it is shiokudoi In Kansai dialect, it is karai This is a long-established restaurant that has been operating for more than 60 years. These days, it is mainly run by an energetic young proprietress. With 穴子天丼 and 海老天丼, the ingredients are delicious, of course, but the sauce is exceptionally good too. The soba also has a firm bite, and the dashi has a strong flavor representative of Tokyo-style Japanese soba. Incidentally, 五目ラーメン also has plenty of toppings, carefully arranged, and the soup has just the right saltiness, which also helps prevent heatstroke in elderly people. On the other hand, people with high blood pressure should be careful.

Located along Nakahara Keio-dori in Nakahara, Mitaka City. Although it is also in Mitaka City, it is not connected by a main road from the area along Tohachi-doro, so this was unfamiliar territory for me. The street has a name, but traffic is not particularly heavy, and the restaurant suddenly appears in an ordinary residential neighborhood. I searched for a highly rated restaurant and came using navigation. It was before noon on Saturday, but luckily the parking area in front was available. Being on a corner makes it easy to park. A norenwake branch of a long-established soba restaurant. Inside, a large sign is displayed as decor. It seems that not only the servers but also the cooks are women. There are quite a few tables and tatami seats. It looks like it could accommodate around 30 people. Looking at the menu, there are no soba-and-rice-bowl sets. Instead, there are mini rice bowls for 420円. With temperatures getting lower, I debated whether to have warm soba, zaru soba since this was my first visit to this soba restaurant, or perhaps 中華そば. While looking, I found seiro, which seemed right between those options, so I chose that. 炙り肉せいろ 980円 with a large portion for 150円, plus かき揚げミニ丼 420円. My companion had ごっつぉうせいろ 980円 with a large portion for 150円. While we waited, local people working on Saturday came in. It seems to be a restaurant loved by the neighborhood. Surprisingly, カレー南蛮 seems popular. The soba itself is very delicious. The warm dashi is, of course, Kanto-style. 炙り肉 combines pork and eggplant, while ごっつぉう combines nameko mushrooms, meatballs, and tofu. The kakiage is fried hard. It is dark in color, but the onions have become sweet and go well with the strong sauce. I finished by diluting the dashi with sobayu. Payment is cash only. A little more soba would make it perfect, but as expected of a norenwake restaurant, it was delicious.

I visited for lunch on the weekend. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood. With few places to eat nearby, it is a valuable presence. I ordered a large portion of ごっつぉうせいろ. The dipping broth and nameko mushroom topping were delicious. Opinions on the soba itself may differ depending on personal taste.
