A place I'd been curious about since I started outpatient visits at 杏林大学病院. I went in around 16:00 and there were no other customers. The inside matches the exterior: an old neighborhood Chinese restaurant. It seems to be run by an elderly couple, and the wife's service is polite. After she took my order, the owner slowly made his way from the back to the kitchen to cook. I ordered the meat and vegetable set meal for 900円 I ordered without expecting much, but it turned out to be surprisingly tasty. The meat had no unpleasant smell. The vegetables included bean sprouts, green onions, garlic chives, buna-shimeji mushrooms, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, and even eggplant, simply seasoned so you don't get tired of it. It also came with chilled tofu, pickles, cherry tomatoes, and simmered chikuwa and konnyaku. Isn't 900円 cheap for all this? I went in hungry but ended up full. If it were nearby, I'd come regularly. Satisfied. Is everyone rating this place after eating the ramen? I'd really recommend trying a set meal. There's a notice saying only 一万円 notes cannot be used, so just watch out for that.

Near the intersection in front of 杏林大学病院. It's on the first floor of a building. Walking before lunchtime on Saturday and wondering where to eat, I spotted a Chinese restaurant sign. I'd never been in, but it looked like it had been around for ages. I'll go here. Through the noren curtain, there were no customers yet, and the owner, who looked to be in his 70s, was relaxing at the counter. The place has a counter and about 3 tables. The owner went into the kitchen, and a staff member who seemed to be his wife brought me water. The menu includes ramen for 600円 and chahan for 700円. They seem to have started serving hiyashi chuka for 850円 too. Nothing seemed particularly recommended, so I ordered the half-chahan and ramen for 1050円. Looking around, there were lots of plastic soy sauce bottles in a corner of the counter, perhaps from recently making or buying a large batch of ramen tare. Leaving things untidied like this feels very much like an independently run shop. The ramen is the classic combination of chicken-bone shoyu broth and yellow Chinese noodles. It's topped with menma, naruto, and one slice of chashu. Sipping the soup, it felt a little weak. On the other hand, perhaps that means there's no artificial seasoning. Adding pepper seemed to balance it. The noodles are boiled somewhat soft. The first bite of chashu had an unpleasant smell. I hesitated for a moment, but chewing it brought out a strong savory flavor, so perhaps it's intentionally made that way. The half chahan wasn't substantial enough for the equivalent of 450円. It had various ingredients and tasted fine. Payment is cash only. There are also notices in several places refusing 1万円 notes. Do they have some grudge against 1万円?

A neighborhood Chinese restaurant near home. First visit. Tama-san says you can judge a restaurant's level by its liver and garlic chives! So I ordered that. It was the right choice. Crunchy vegetables and liver cooked just right. There was so much liver. For 600円, that's cheap!! The chahan (600円) was tasty too, but just reasonably good. I think it would be better leaning either toward moist rice or separate grains. But overall, a delicious restaurant. Happy to find it nearby. Next time I'll try ordering something different.

【Half chahan and ramen set 950円】 After my appointment at the nearby 杏林大学病院, it was lunchtime, so I went in just after 12 There were about 2 customers already inside, and I could order right away It was like the shoyu ramen I ate ages and ages ago, very nostalgic The chahan might be a little too salty Unlike today's elaborate ramen, it felt like a Showa-era neighborhood Chinese restaurant Next time I'll try something like the stir-fried vegetables

It seems to be a ramen shop run by an elderly couple. I ordered “Chashu ramen” ¥800- “Large serving” ¥100- . Not necessarily because they're an elderly couple, but there's no energy to the place. The wife takes the orders and the husband cooks. The wife's service is neither good nor bad, but the husband is unfriendly. The ramen felt a little below average. It certainly wasn't bad, but the presentation seemed a little careless. Perhaps being an elderly couple, they're past worrying about trying harder or anything, but my honest impression is that customers would appreciate a little more care in their work.
