手打ちそば 元禄Washoku Soba Toranomon genroku
After training at 荒木屋, a long-established soba restaurant with a 200-year history, we opened independently in Toranomon 30 years ago. We work in the kitchen to help more people discover soba's appeal. We use a blend of buckwheat flour from Tochigi and Ibaraki. Our handmade soba varies in thickness with the season. We serve soba with an unwavering commitment to ingredients and handcrafting. Firm yet smooth going down, the noodles are easy to slurp. The manager personally visits the market to carefully select seasonal fresh fish and other ingredients. We serve fresh sashimi every day. We also offer a wide range of sake from various regions to pair with soba and side dishes. Our recommendation is “kamo seiro,” made with crossbred duck from Iwate Prefecture. The rich flavor of duck meat, duck…

Simple but great soba! Great portion and very affordable as well! The broth is perfectly clear, light, and has enough flavours. The assorted tempuras can be more crispy, but not bad at all. I also saw ‘whale sashimi’ on the menu and tried it. I’m still not sure if it’s whale or not because I use google translate for the menu, and I didn’t know what to expect since I’ve never tried whale, but it definitely taste very fishy :))

View on GoogleI visited for lunch. This time I ordered mori soba, and it was very delicious, with firmly chewy noodles and a clear sense of soba's natural flavor. Although it was lunchtime, service was extremely quick, and since it was soba, I could finish my meal easily. At the same time, it lacked the hectic atmosphere typical of many lunchtime soba shops, and I was impressed that I could enjoy my meal leisurely in a calm space. The prices are a little high, but the relaxed atmosphere lets you enjoy conversation over your meal, so I think it's fully justified. I was dining alone this time, but I noticed thoughtful touches, such as bringing soba cooking water at a time suited to my eating pace. I think this good service is another of the restaurant's attractions. The atmosphere gave me the impression that evenings would be pleasant for enjoying soba and individual dishes over drinks. I'd definitely like to visit in the evening next time.
View on GoogleI had the winter-only oyster soba (2,100円). I thought it was a little expensive, but I can't resist seasonal dishes—and ordering it was the right choice. The lightly fried oysters were large and plump inside. Substantial. Satisfying.
View on GoogleA large serving of two kinds of soba with tororo costs over 2000円. (2130円) ※A large serving is an extra 380円 The soba is fairly good. Overall, it feels overpriced, with the price not matching the taste. I won't return at this price point.
