8-minute walk from Omotesando Station. "vegan veggie 嫦娥 (joga)," easily accessible from the Aoyama and Shibuya areas, is a new-style vegan & vegetarian Chinese restaurant specializing in Chinese cuisine based on Shanghai style with elements of medicinal cuisine (yakuzen). Perfect for those conscious of beauty, those who want to enjoy Chinese food without worrying about calories, and those who are health-oriented! We use carefully selected "soy meat" instead of meat, finishing it high-protein & healthy. Fully compatible with vegan, vegetarian, and oriental vegan (no five pungent spices/gokun). 【Rich Menu & Courses】 Homemade medicinal noodles, dim sum, colorful stir-fries, shiitake mushroom broth soup, and the famous "Green Mapo"...

Tucked away in Aoyama, vegan veggie joga is one of those rare restaurants that feels both quietly nourishing and genuinely memorable. I’ve been four times now, which is perhaps the clearest endorsement I can give: this is not simply a good vegan restaurant, but a place I find myself wanting to return to. What makes it special is its distinct point of view. Rather than leaning on the usual language of plant-based dining, joga draws from Chinese medicinal cuisine and yakuzen traditions, creating dishes that feel restorative without sacrificing depth or pleasure. Expect ingredients such as ginseng, goji berries, medicinal mushrooms and bamboo charcoal woven thoughtfully through the menu, alongside beautifully composed vegetable dishes that are as comforting as they are refined. There is a calm confidence to the cooking here. The flavours are layered and generous, yet never heavy; the food leaves you feeling cared for rather than merely full. In a city with no shortage of vegan options, joga stands apart for offering something more atmospheric and singular — a meal that feels considered from start to finish. The room itself is understated and serene, making it just as suitable for a quiet lunch as for a long dinner with friends. It is not the cheapest vegan meal in Tokyo, but it is one of the more distinctive ones. For me, it has become a place to return to when I want food that is both beautiful and deeply comforting.

My first time trying Mapo Tofu with a basil base. The refreshing aroma of Sichuan pepper was very unique—highly recommended! The vegetarian buns had a crispy bottom, and the mushroom filling was delicious. Hot pot is perfect for winter, but it contained a variety of mushrooms. One or two had quite strong flavors, so if you’re not a fan of intense tastes, I wouldn’t recommend ordering it!

One of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants I ever had. The sauce is so perfect. And the vegan hamburger patty is awesome with the special sauce by Joga. And the dessert brownie is made by rice flour with vegan cream. Gluten free. I’m so grateful for this restaurant existence in Tokyo. It’s a blessed for all the vegan friends.

Less than a 10 minute walk from the station, this restaurant has an amazing ambience. Quiet, low lighting, beautiful music in the background and minimalist decorations. The taste of the food did not lack despite the medicinal/healthy component. There are some things that you should know before going here for dinner: 500 yen cover charge/person, each person must purchase a drink, they had seafood options even though it is advertised/labeled as a vegan restaurant. Overpriced for the portions. You will come hungry and leave hungry.

Be it for lunch or dinner I am eating well at Joga. I am a fan of their mapo tofu which is mala spicy. At lunch you can have it as a set meal paired with a soup to tie it all together. Location is just around the corner from the Nezu museum and withing walking distance from the metro or Shibuya JR line. Can seat solo travellers or bigger groups and the tables have charging outlets available. Staff is friendly and happy to help if you are not sure what to pick for your meal. I was able to pay using google pay. Thanks for the tasty meals!
