The best samgyopsal around. I love this place it is so good. I have come here alot over the past 10yrs and have never had a bad dinner. I was disappointed they don't sell the tonchan branded beer mugs

View on GoogleI first ate samgyeopsal in Seoul about 35 years ago. It was so delicious I wondered why Japan didn't have it. Then, some 20-odd years later, this place opened in Shinjuku as the first specialty restaurant in Japan. When I passed in front of the Shinjuku shop, I was so happy I instinctively had the taxi stop, went inside, and ended up chatting at length with the owner, who had moved from Korea to Japan. Soon after, the Shinjuku shop was featured on Ousama no Brunch and became a huge hit. They quickly opened this Akasaka branch, and it became a huge hit too. After that the branches just kept increasing, and the owner achieved the Japanese Dream. Now they even have their own building & factory in Shinjuku. As for the all-important taste, honestly, it may have dropped a bit compared to before. But in Tokyo, this place's samgyeopsal is still number one for me. Because it has the average taste of a restaurant you'd find in any town in Korea. Of course, if you go to Korea there are plenty of great places featuring Jeju Island black pork, but for casually eating and having fun with friends, a place like this is good. If you order, get these three: samgyeopsal, gyeran jjim, and sundubu jjigae or doenjang jjigae. And finish with fried rice topped with cheese. Add a beer or highball and you're all set.
View on GoogleThe Korean food that blew away the cold reminiscent of Korea was great❣️ It was freaking cold, so I tapped around on my phone and ended up here. The interior is modeled after Korea itself and had quite the atmosphere. I thought about going straight for the hotpot, but first I started with the "samgyeopsal," which I assumed was the shop's specialty. Not a Korean but a Nepali staff member carefully cooked the samgyeopsal for us, and it was delicious. After that, as I was thinking about getting the hotpot, a staff member suggested "the rice after samgyeopsal is delicious," and I went with that suggestion. You let the rice soak up the leftover samgyeopsal fat, grill it until crispy, and finally sprinkle cheese on top. I think it's a pretty high-calorie meal, but it was more delicious than I expected❣️ Then I went for the cold-busting hotpot I'd been after. In the meantime I nearly conquered the wide variety of makgeolli, and ate the hotpot when I was pretty drunk. It warmed me right up, it was the best‼️ Satisfied, and as for the final verdict, the bill? It was "@5,000円/person." Well~ that's about right, I guess⁉️ Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleI came for the samgyeopsal and was very satisfied. The meat was fresh and tender, and freshly grilled it was fragrant and juicy. Wrapped with vegetables and condiments, it was refreshing yet still filling. The small side dishes and à la carte dishes typical of Korean cuisine were also delicious, and everything gave the impression of being carefully made. The interior had a calm atmosphere and felt clean, the staff's service was pleasant, and I could enjoy my meal at a relaxed pace. Portions were ample and the value for money good; it's a place I'd recommend to Korean food lovers too. I'd like to come again.
