Mabo tofu is not bad. You can increase the spiciness level for a fee. Free rice refill
View on GoogleA safe-bet Chinese restaurant. The mapo tofu and yodaredori had a solid kick of spice and were delicious. The flavors are strong, so rice is a must. The appetizer platter is for 2 but had quite a lot of volume. Lunch set menus and teishoku menus start from 980 yen! Cheap! These seem like a better deal. The shop is a 30-second walk from the Toei Oedo Line / Asakusa Line exit. We went around 18:00 on a weekday, and the 1st floor was booked for a private party, so we were shown to the 2nd floor. Smoking is apparently allowed on the 3rd floor, but on the 2nd floor the cigarette smell didn't bother me.
View on GoogleStir-fried liver and chives. Tasty enough. Pretty much everyone around me had the mapo tofu, so I think I'll try the mapo tofu next time. At lunchtime it wasn't too crowded, but since I was alone I was seated at a shared round table. There were lots of businessmen and office ladies around, and I think turnover is good. Payment was cash or PayPay. I wonder what dinnertime is like.
View on GoogleA Chinese restaurant right by Hamamatsucho Station and Daimon Station. There are several places around here with great mapo tofu, and this is one of them. I went right at the 11:30 opening, but it filled up soon after. The lunch mapo tofu set meal. 1000 yen. Mapo tofu with rice, soup, and almond tofu. The mapo tofu's spiciness is just right, and it tingles, but not to the point of going numb. It keeps you eating rice. Finished off with almond tofu. As mapo tofu goes, it's a decent level. If I could wish for one thing, I'd like free rice refills, or at least one refill allowed lol
View on GoogleBooked a weekday evening course meal with all-you-can-drink. For the drinks menu, you tick items on a sheet of paper and hand it to the staff. It says refills require a glass exchange, but beer, highballs, and lemon sours can be ordered by the pitcher. Food comes out quickly. The mapo tofu had a good kick of sansho and was delicious. The 1st floor has one shared unisex restroom. To smoke, you have to take the stairs up to the 3rd floor.
