Food was fantastic! 14 course omakase of the freshest selections of local and seasonal choices. The Chef was engaging and fun. Everything was absolutely delicious. I suggest you come hungry as the quantity might be a little much for those not used to it.
View on GoogleWonderful experience. The chef masterfully created each dish in front of us. The sushi was spectacular and service like no other hi guy recommend it. Very friendly atmosphere. Made us feel welcomed and were very kind in explaining how to properly eat every dish.
View on GoogleWe had the pleasure of dining at The Sakai for dinner last night with reservations. We were blown away with the freshness and variety of foods! The sake’ wine options were fantastic with each of the delicious dishes. We can taste the superb difference in the Toro Tuna and other dishes much better than what we’ve had many times before in different places of the world. Chef and staff were all friendly and interactive at the sushi bar. We loved watching them prepare the beautiful food!
View on GoogleWe are regular patrons of The Sakai in Frankfurt so we just had to go to the Tokyo branch. We did so three years ago for our first time in Tokyo and the experience was so good that we had to do it again :) Not only the dishes will blow your mind for quality, freshness and execution, but also the interaction with the staff and the chef (and maybe the other guests too, if the stars align) will make your day. The Sakai Roppongi is all you expect from an excellent omakase restaurant: low lights, seats around the chef who you can admire as he works, a surprising string of flavours, textures and visual juxtapositions, great pairings. The overall experience is classy, but it nevertheless manages to stay approachable and friendly. If you are worried about the language barrier, don't; you will manage. The staff has improved compared to three years ago, and there are always translator machines.
