I went on December 5, 2025 at 19:00 We happened to be the only customers inside and were shown to a table I finally came back after about 3 years to have my beloved tanmen at 大宝, but… The two of us ordered fried rice, tanmen, gyoza, and cola, but the tanmen took ages. My companion had finished the fried rice, and we'd both finished the gyoza while they were hot before the long-awaited tanmen finally arrived, but the garlic aroma was already missing the moment it was brought over… Neither that powerful aroma that usually hits you as soon as it arrives nor the soup with its strong black pepper was there Tanmen that seemed as though they'd completely forgotten to season it… I normally love lightly seasoned food, but the tanmen here was the one thing I really loved even with its strong flavor, and this was honestly shockingly bland There wasn't even any saltiness; it was as bland as hospital food… W-what happened? Compared with the well-seasoned fried rice and gyoza, it was unbelievably bland, or rather, hadn't they forgotten to season it? I came back after so long expecting to eat that tanmen and was really looking forward to it, but even the aroma when it arrived was so different that I forgot to take a photo I was truly shocked By the way, the fried rice and gyoza were both very delicious But the tanmen was just so different, what on earth was that… Having made a special trip, I felt really sad

I was looking up tanmen popularity rankings and this place was number 1 in Tokyo, so I made a note of it and finally managed to visit (at lunchtime on a weekday)✌ Not just the exterior, but the interior also has quite a historic feel; I wonder if they've been open for over 60 years🤔 (It's dim inside) I ordered using the menu written on the wall✏ It was so faded and nearly erased that I thought I'd misread it, but the prices really were surprisingly high (lol) Are these Minami-Azabu prices? Personally, I didn't think they were the prices of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant loved by the locals. They don't provide a hand towel. They bring your first glass of water, but from the 2nd glass onward, I think you have to refill it yourself at the dispenser beside the register. The tissues were beside the register too, so I suppose you go get them if you need some. It was lunchtime on a weekday, but there were only about 3 other customers, so it wasn't busy. I simply ordered the [タンメン] 1,000円 I'd come for🍜 The owner looked intimidating at first glance, but his voice was unexpectedly high, which made me do a double take (lol) The bowl arrived shortly afterward🍜 Cabbage, bean sprouts, and small strips of pork: simple toppings with slightly brownish flat noodles. Delicious, perhaps the aroma was sesame oil? I noticed a little garlic too. I finished the noodles in no time, leaving quite a lot of vegetables. I'm not someone who can eat huge amounts, but I felt slightly unsatisfied, so perhaps I should have ordered a large portion🤔 The soup stays piping hot even after you've finished eating, so be careful not to burn yourself⚠ I was also curious about the 1,500円 fried rice available only at night, but the location isn't easy for me to get to, so another visit is…

Ordered the popular tanmen and gyoza! I used to live nearby, but visited for the first time on a snowy day when I had nowhere else to go! I was also curious about the evening-only fried rice and chashu-men, but since tanmen and gyoza were said to be popular, I ordered those two. The tanmen warmed my freezing body. It had a gentle flavor. Personally, I like chashu in ramen, but tanmen comes with pork! So next time I want to order chashu-men The gyoza seemed more vegetable-focused than meat-focused! My impression was that it didn't exceed my expectations by much, but I have hopes for the other dishes✨

中華料理 大宝” is located a short distance from Shirokane-takanawa Station. A long-established Chinese restaurant loved by locals, despite its short opening hours at both lunch and dinner. My first visit was to try the fried rice and gyoza that have won over so many people. Inside, there are counter seats and 2 tables. The sound of a wok being tossed in the kitchen builds anticipation. I immediately ordered the signature fried rice and gyoza. First came the gyoza. Grilled until fragrant and crisp, they had crunchy wrappers and juicy filling. The concentrated savory flavor of the meat filled my mouth with happiness. 大宝's fried rice and gyoza feature simple seasoning that brings out the best in the ingredients. Nothing unnecessary is added, allowing you to savor their natural flavors. It's truly the taste of old-fashioned Chinese cooking. Next came the piping-hot fried rice. With a perfect texture that was both loose-grained and moist, a single bite filled my mouth with savory flavor. The ingredients were simple, but each was carefully stir-fried to bring out its natural taste. In particular, the savory chashu flavor coated the rice beautifully, making every bite enjoyable. Inside, the regulars and owner were chatting away, creating a comfortable, homey atmosphere. The simple yet deep flavors will surely captivate people of all ages. If you visit Shirokane-takanawa, be sure to stop by! Thank you for the meal! ーーーーーーーーーー 【If you found this helpful, please like it! And follow me too!】
