Outstanding quality sushi, some of the best salmon I’ve had. Come early, he can sell out.

Small restaurant with only 17 seats, fresh sushi, Kaisendon is topped with a variety of raw, fresh seafood ("kaisen") known as sashimi. Very delicious and reasonable price

●February 2026 Chirashi, regular ¥1500 ◎Weekday, sunny 10:30 Same-day phone reservation. They didn't ask for my contact info. 11:40 Went in saying "I'm the one with the 11:45 reservation." They ask, "Any toppings you don't like?" 11:47 Bowl arrives The best-value sushi, reservation essential. Fresh, thick-cut toppings piled high. Lots of variety too: tuna, negitoro, salmon, squid, octopus, shrimp, yellowtail, white fish, kazunoko, mentaiko, shellfish, and more. The squid and octopus are enormous, but no need to worry. They're so tender it's moving. The sushi rice has chirimen jako, nori, and even sesame mixed in, making it a jako furikake vinegared rice. The rice portion is generous too—full and totally satisfied. #寿司芳 #すしよし@芝公園

My own [Top 100 Donburi Shops] series (kaisendon) Founded in 1914! Thick-cut slices, boom! A great-value kaisendon! 5 minutes on foot from Shibakoen Station, I visited 「寿司芳」, a super long-established sushi shop founded in 1914. I made a same-day phone reservation and was told there was room at the 11:40 opening time, so I went. When I arrived, there was a notice at the entrance of the historic-feeling building saying they were sold out through reservations. I ordered the only lunch menu item, chirashi (kaisendon) for 1,500 yen. Apparently it was 1,200 yen until December 2022. In just over 5 minutes, an impressive kaisendon piled high with toppings was served. The kaisendon toppings: sea bream, chutoro ×3, amberjack, salmon, mentaiko, octopus, itoyori, anago, shrimp, mantis shrimp, whelk, raw shirasu, iwanori, kamaboko, tamagoyaki, tobiko, and more. Every topping was fresh and delicious. The sea bream, chutoro, amberjack, and salmon were thick-cut and satisfying. There was plenty of shirasu and tobiko, so every part of the sushi rice tasted great. The chutoro was the best. I enjoyed it to the very last bite. This much variety, piled this high, for 1,500 yen! Recommended.
