A bakery in the B1F concourse outside the ticket gates, right after you exit the gates at Daimon Station on the Toei Oedo Line. Marked by a green Bread tapestry and a handwritten café menu board, it has a warm look that somehow puts you at ease. Its biggest feature is its once-in-a-lifetime style: it's open only in the morning. Because of that, if you go close to closing time, you might be lucky enough to come across a nice "20% off" deal. This time I bought a chocolate chip scone (200 yen) lined up in a basket in the showcase. True to the words on the POP, "a gentle flavor studded with bitter chocolate," chocolate chips peek out from the surface of the square-baked dough. When I broke it in half, it was luxuriously packed with more bitter chocolate chunks than I'd imagined. The dough itself is simple with a gentle sweetness, so the slight bitterness of the chocolate is a perfect accent, and I enjoyed it to the last bite without getting bored. Apparently sandwiches and such sell out especially early, so it seems you'll have more to choose from right after opening.
View on GoogleOn my way to work I had a bit more time than usual, so I decided to buy breakfast before heading to the office. I visited "TROIS," which I'd been curious about every time I walked past. I went in, looked over the showcase, and ordered an "apple bread (300 yen)" that looked tasty. I forgot the name lol I bought it to go and started eating after I got to the office. When I tried it, the dough was layered like a pie, with a light, flaky texture. Inside it was generously filled with an apple jam–like filling, and the fruity sweetness spread through my mouth, delicious. It was properly sweet and filling enough that one was plenty, so it was perfect for an energy boost in the morning. It turned out to be an unexpectedly good breakfast, and I got to work feeling satisfied. I'd like to stop by again whenever I manage to get up early.
View on GoogleRushing by train from a hotel around Sengakuji, Daimon, or Tokyo Tower to the airport. Making it to the Ginza Line gate in time and feeling relieved. It's perfect for a scene like that. There are quite a few sandwiches, and the sweet breads are mostly croissant types. The one labeled as a scone, which looks like one too, is somehow a different, chewy bread. It tastes loaded with butter. Maybe they're repurposing croissant dough? It's better than having it crumble everywhere on the train, and it's tasty, but it's not a scone.
View on GoogleIn the end, they just bake frozen/chilled semi-finished products in a designated oven. It's the same system as any old supermarket in-store bakery, yet the supermarket's is tastier. There must be some reason they can't improve.
View on GoogleReally delicious. Love it. A shop I hope keeps going forever.
