Matcha was delicious and so smooth. They have an incredibly diverse range - whether you want smooth or bitter or rich or creamy, they have a matcha option for you. The owner was helpful but there was a young woman from Guatemala who was so kind and generous in explaining all there is to know about matcha and preparing it - I didn’t get her name but thank you! It’s a little hard to find - there’s only one sign outside and you have to go downstairs but it’s so cool and calm inside, a nice escape from the heat of summer. 10/10!

Real authentic matcha from a master tea ceremony family that continues for centuries. The hosts are super friendly and you can choose your desired matcha from the chart. The matcha latte is a must try. Not too sweet and you can really taste the smooth matcha. And they also have oats and soy milk for vegans. I forgot to take a photo but you can try the matcha in the traditional way too and it comes with a star shaped sugar candy which helps smooth out the bitterness. If you want to try matcha as a latte or the traditional style, this spot is a real gem. And the best part is it just opened in March so no tourists!!!

As a Japanese who loves and appreciates matcha, the experience here was the best I’ve had so far. What concerns me about current matcha trend is that most places serve stuff that you can’t actually taste matcha and appreciate the work behind it. At Shaka Shaka, I recommend starting with “Usucha” so you can taste the matcha by itself, then get latte. Staff is friendly, interior is warm and welcoming. If you are someone who wants to appreciate matcha, this is THE place to be.
