Tanmen: 580 yen The price is low. There were plenty of vegetables for the price, too. The noodles were soft. The soup had a gentle flavor. The chili oil on the table had a sharp spiciness and was perfect for changing up the flavor. The cigarette smell・・・

I ordered the twice-cooked pork set meal (800 yen). The seasoning was sweet and spicy (like shrimp in chili sauce). The portions are generally on the small side, so people who want to eat a lot should order noodle dishes (which generally come in larger portions).

This is a neighborhood Chinese restaurant in 白金高輪. It doesn't have the atmosphere of somewhere you'd make a special trip to visit; it's a very ordinary, inexpensive place for everyday meals. I'd known about it for a long time, but never quite had the chance to go, and almost 10 years had passed. Before visiting, I did some research. Apparently, “モヤシそば” and “タンメン” come recommended. A few people also recommended “チャーハン” and “焼きめし風チキンライス”! Since I'd already had a punchy tanmen at nearby 大宝, I decided against ordering the same thing here and went with “モヤシそば”. The モヤシそば turned out to be soy sauce ramen topped with loads of bean sprouts, pork belly, and carrots, coated in a piping-hot, thickened sauce. The medium-thin straight noodles went nicely with the generous, slightly sweet sauce. The crunchy bean sprouts were irresistible too. The sauce had just the right sweetness and a really addictive flavor—quite my kind of thing!! One slight disappointment is that smoking is allowed at every seat. The interior isn't particularly spacious, so imagining it crowded at lunchtime made me shudder. On the other hand, it might be the perfect place for smokers...

I ordered the 麻婆豆腐 set meal. What arrived was some lukewarm something with tofu in it and an overwhelmingly sugary sweetness. It cost eight hundred yen. Also, the dishes were dirty. There was a single dried-out grain of rice stuck to the rice plate. I only noticed it as I was finishing the rice, so complaining at that point felt a bit... and I kept quiet. I don't even want to give this place one star.

I'd want this restaurant's 天津飯 to be the last meal of my life. Everything is tasty, reasonably priced, and delicious. Please take care of your health so I can keep enjoying your cooking for as long as possible.
