I had a wonderful dinner at karyon near Takanawa Gateway Station, enjoying their exquisite "menu Suwayama" course. The restaurant offers a sophisticated, modern French dining experience with a strong focus on high-quality Japanese ingredients. Each dish was beautifully presented with artistic flair. I especially enjoyed the combination of flavors, starting from the comforting onion vichyssoise to the aromatic roasted round zucchini topped with summer truffle. The main dish, perfectly roasted Aichi Genji wagyu beef with a rich porte rouge sauce, was incredibly tender and flavorful. The flounder meunière served on a stunning wooden plate was also a true highlight. The service was polite and attentive, and the quiet, upscale atmosphere made it a perfect venue for a special evening. Highly recommended for a refined culinary experience.
View on GoogleSuperb atmosphere with a wood focused interior, lending for a soft and cosy dining experience. We had the private room which by extension had a beautiful suar wood table anchoring as the centrepiece. Aesthetics are great for your IG worthy shots to be. The food was also wonderful as well, with a strong emphasis on utilizing ingredients from Toyohashi, Aichi prefecture, where the Chef was originally from, but done in a classic french style. (He trained there as well.) We had the dinner menu, which I understand can differ substantially from the lunch offerings. So do take note of that. Makino, who is the sommelier took care of us with impeccable experience, taking care to explain each dish in English, even though we already had the English menu. Highly recommended if you don’t mind travelling just a little further out in the heart of Tokyo to this quaint restaurant.
