Terrible experience. I asked the food without mushrooms because I am allergic. I doble checked with the waiter if it contained mushrooms and he confirmed it didn’t. For my surprise I found mushrooms in the pudding. When I complained they offered no solution, no apology. Furthermore food was no Chinese at all. Expensive for that quality.
View on GoogleOrdered the 二色麻婆豆腐 set meal. The restaurant’s name suggests authentic Chinese cuisine, but the flavors are light and tailored to Japanese tastes. The red version looks Sichuan-style, but lacks mala flavor, so it was personally disappointing. The atmosphere inside is calm, and the spacing between neighboring seats is adequate, so as a place to talk, I think it’s a good restaurant.
View on GoogleA neighborhood Chinese restaurant in an alley leading from Shimbashi Akarenga-dori to the approach to Karasumori Shrine. Its affordable lunch menu is popular. A wide range of menus is posted outside, and they drew me in. It was past 12, but it was very quiet that day, with only 1 customer already there. I studied the menu and ordered. ▪️海鮮ジャージャー麺 1,000円 ・Includes soup and salad Perhaps because it was quiet, the food arrived quickly, in about 5 minutes. In addition to soup and salad, there was a small side dish and tea. The side dish was a simmered dish resembling Japanese nikujaga. I finished the salad and side dish before tackling the jajamen. The noodles were topped with shredded cucumber, with a few small shrimp scattered through the zhajiang sauce. The sauce was very thick and on the sweet side, with little noticeable heat. I don’t think I spotted any seafood besides shrimp, but I probably prefer meat to seafood anyway. The noodles seemed to have been cooled in water after boiling, but were still lukewarm. The portion was just right for lunch. The jajamen left me a little unsatisfied, but I’m curious about the other dishes. Perhaps the clay-pot lunch next time. 【Update】 A neighborhood Chinese restaurant in an alley leading from Shimbashi Akarenga-dori to the approach to Karasumori Shrine. It offers a range of affordable lunch dishes. A wide range of lunch menus is posted outside. Because it is tucked away in an inconspicuous alley, it is relatively quiet even at lunchtime. There were only 2 parties already there that day. I sat at a table near the front and ordered. ▪️二色天津丼 1,080円(tax included) ・Includes salad, a small side dish, and soup An orange sweet-and-sour sauce and a white Chinese-stock-based sauce. The menu photo shows cucumber acting as a central divider between the two sauces, but what arrived had each sauce in a separate bowl for you to pour on yourself. There was no cucumber either, so perhaps they switched to this method to save labor and cost. I poured each sauce over half, trying to keep them from mixing as much as possible. Appearance-wise, it was passable. The sweet-and-sour sauce was quite strongly sour and sweet, and became tiresome as I ate. Half and half may have been just right. The Chinese-stock sauce, on the other hand, was light with just the right saltiness, and I quite liked it. If they offered just that one sauce instead of two colors, I would definitely choose it. The egg retained its fluffiness, and the filling included scallions and a little crab, giving it a nice flavor. The small side dish was something like sweet-and-sour pork. It contained small pieces of fried meat, and the thick sauce was delicious. I finished comfortably, about eight-tenths full. Rice prices are still soaring, and lunch prices keep rising along with them. Once prices rise, they rarely come back down, so I hope inflation settles down soon.

I usually make do with a packed lunch or convenience-store food, so I was a little excited. I wandered around Shimbashi and ended up going into 蘭苑. The sign said 二色麻婆, which caught my attention! Two kinds of mapo with different heat levels and thicknesses—delicious! Their concept is Chinese food suited to Japanese tastes, so the heat is mild! Actually, it seems they’ll adjust it when you order. I asked for less heat, and it was just right! The corn soup had a gentle sweetness and was delicious! クノール can’t beat that flavor😁 The chawanmushi was great too, and the salad had egg in it, so it was really satisfying👌 Next time I’ll try ordering 二色天津飯~~~
View on GoogleI’ve been here for lunch several times. The lunch menu is over 1000円, so it’s a little pricey, but what you get is worth more than the price. I had the clay-pot lunch (1500円). Besides the main dish, there is a generous variety of small sides, so you can enjoy lots of different things. The people at the restaurant are pleasant too, making for a comfortable meal.
